Apple announces the date of its second October event, here is everything we know

It seems that Apple has decided to break all the usual rules in its product launch schedule for this fall. After the surprise of the Mac devices in late August, the annual iPhone conference in September, and a dedicated smart home event in early October, the company is returning with a second extraordinary event within the same month under the title “Pro and Tell.” This unprecedented activity puts us in one of the most intense periods in the company’s history, so what does Apple have in store for us on October 28?

Apple has sent official invitations to journalists to attend a new conference to be held on October 28, and the choice of the name was by no means random; the slogan is a play on the famous “Show and Tell” phrase, replacing the first word with “Pro,” which confirms that professional-grade devices, specifically the MacBook Pro family, will be the undisputed stars of the event. Greg Joswiak, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing, also confirmed this direction by posting the event slogan on the X platform, commenting enthusiastically that he couldn’t wait until next week.

The logo design features radar-like lines rotating around the Apple logo, with dark colors and metallic shades that perfectly remind us of the familiar colors of professional MacBook Pro computers. Expectations and the scheduled display interface resets for Apple stores on November 6 indicate that this date may be the official start of the new devices being available to users.

iPad mini 8: An all-new OLED screen and a long-awaited performance upgrade

Although expectations pointed to its launch alongside iPhone phones in September, the iPad mini has remained absent from the scene until now. However, recent leaks from a French regulatory database revealed the existence of a newly registered model, which removes any doubt about the imminent arrival of the eighth generation of Apple’s smallest tablet, which is also the most popular among mobile enthusiasts.

The most prominent upgrade in the iPad mini will be the screen; reports indicate a transition to an 8.4-inch Hybrid OLED screen based on LTPS technology, bringing its quality closer to iPad Pro screens with more vivid colors, stunning contrast, and significant power savings. However, reports remain divided on whether it will support 120Hz ProMotion technology or remain at 60Hz to maintain the tier difference between standard devices and Pro devices.

Beyond the screen, the device will receive a hardware upgrade by being equipped with the new A20 processor, similar to the iPhone 18 Pro, along with Apple’s own connectivity and modem chips. Leaks also speak of moving the FaceTime camera location to suit landscape use, with the adoption of new vibration-based speakers to help improve the device’s water resistance.

MacBook Pro with OLED and touch: The long-awaited historic shift

The upcoming MacBook Pro with an OLED screen represents one of the most anticipated devices in years among Mac enthusiasts. While previous expectations delayed this step until early 2027, it seems Apple has moved up the timeline to reveal it now in late October in preparation for its market launch in early November.

The new screen will not only offer superior color depth and exceptional contrast, but will also mark Apple’s first entry into the world of touchscreens for Mac laptops, joining the laptop market that has offered this feature for some time. This feature was almost confirmed after explicit signals were discovered within the beta version of the macOS 27.2 update, where many applications were configured to recognize direct touch gestures, in an unintentional implicit admission by Apple of the imminent unveiling of this capability.

Reports also indicate that this model will see a noticeable reduction in weight thanks to re-engineering the internal components to be smaller and lighter, although the thickness of the outer chassis will remain similar to the current generation without additional thinning, while relying on the latest Apple silicon chips.

Mac devices with M6 processors: Boosting power for the MacBook Pro and iMac

iMac desktop device

After Apple surprised us by launching the Mac mini and Mac Studio with M6 processors in late August, the rest of the devices are now expected to follow suit to unify the processor fleet. The base models of the MacBook Pro are expected to see an upgrade to the M6 processor, while maintaining the same design, port structure, and current mini-LED screen equipped with ProMotion technology, making it an internal specification upgrade focused on increasing performance and processing speed.

The same applies to the 24-inch iMac desktop, which will receive an M6 processor upgrade to enhance its speed and efficiency, while maintaining its elegant thin design and current color palette without changes to the screen panel; leaks confirm that OLED screens for the iMac remain a project postponed to the distant future.

As for the rest of the products that users are looking forward to, such as the MacBook Air, MacBook Neo, and the second generation of iPhone Air, in addition to the iPad Pro and iPad Air, all data indicates that their unveiling will be postponed until early 2027, so that Apple can focus all its energy in this extraordinary event on impressing the professional community.
