Google launched a new service under the name of "Google Sync" that allows the contacts and calendar to be linked between your phone and Google Mail via the Internet without the need to connect the phone to the computer. Now Google has provided a free alternative and the devices supported by the service are iPhone, iPod Touch, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, as well as Symbian devices such as some models of Nokia and Sony Ericsson and others.
The service allows you to add, amend or delete in your contacts book or your calendar in your Google account or on your phone, and any modification made by any party will be spoken by the other party automatically.
The service is useful for connecting your phone to the Internet and most importantly, it is to make a backup copy of your phone book and your calendar.

Connect iPhone to the computer.
Open iTunes if it doesn't start by default.
Choose your phone and then choose Info from the menu
From the Sync Contacts with menu choose Google Contacts

Go to Settings- Settings

Enter account information:
In the mail box, enter any name
Leave the Domain field blank
In the Username, enter your full email address

In the Server field, type m.google.com
Click Next Next from the top menu
