Some iPhone users, especially iPhone 4, complained about problems using the Home button in terms of not responding at all, slow response, or when you press twice to show the list of open programs, it records one click only. The matter that bothered many users and some people thought that it could be because of the frequent use of it, or that it could be that some dust with sweat seeped inside and acted as an insulator. There is a lot of speculation, and no one can say anything about whether this is a defect in the operating system or in the components of the iPhone itself.
It is believed, after studying this topic, that it is likely that the problem lies in the operating system and not the cause of any of the previous speculations (whether excessive use or dust, but we do not deny that the matter is contained according to your use of the device). The inference was made by noting that most of the complaints started after the iOS 4.1 update, and the problem still exists even after the 4.3.2 update!
If we assume that this problem is caused by the operating system, we must follow the following to solve the problem:
- Reset the device: by pressing and holding the Sleep + Home button at the same time, until the screen appears black, and then the Apple logo appears.
- Make a backup by connecting the iPhone to the computer, and from iTunes, press Backup or synchronize.
- Restore the iPhone as a new iPhone (Restore as a new iPhone): by connecting the iPhone to the computer and from iTunes click on Restore and then choose Setup as a new iPhone after the restart.
Important noteYou should beware of trying these methods if you are using the jailbreak or if the iPhone is locked on a particular network
Now try testing the Home button. If it works, restore the saved backup to restore your device data. If this method doesn't work, you should go to an authorized Apple dealer to repair it, or you should be patient :)
