How to get more productive with iOS / iMovie

An iOS device can do a lot, but many people only use it for communication and some simple functions such as social networks and games, so we started a series to help you become more productive with iOS, starting with text editors and Photoshop, but today we are dealing with making and editing videos. Today we explain how to get started with Apple's iMovie program and its many basic functions.

How to get more productive with iOS / iMovie

Understand the program

iMovie_screenshot1

To start working with the application, you must learn its basic elements. When you open the application, you will find an interface consisting of 3 main windows: Video, Projects, and Theater. The first window displays all the videos that you have on your device and iCloud. The window called “Projects” does all the work in it, where there are all projects, whether completed or incomplete, and where you can edit the video clips you choose from the “Video” window. The last window, "Theater", contains all your videos after you convert their format into a viewable video and not just a project. There you can see the clip on all of your i-cloud devices and view it on Apple TV or even upload it to YouTube.

Starting a new project

iMovie_screenshot2
When you click on the + sign, you create a new project, and here it gives you the option to either start making a movie, which you can do whatever you want - from cutting, editing, additions, etc.- or creating a "Trailer" that is similar to the promotional clips for movies in the style of Hollywood. Let's start by choosing to make a movie. Upon selection, you will be faced with several ready-made templates that you can choose from to make your movie look the same. The first template is "simple" and this is the most adaptable and works well with it because it doesn't contain a lot of ready-made elements. As for other templates such as "newsletter" and others, you can preview and choose them if you like. After selecting a template, click "Create".

Add a new video to the project

iMovie_screenshot6

If you are using the iPhone, you will be taken directly to the "Video" window to choose the video. On the iPad, you will find a choice in the window in front of you where you can choose "All" and choose from the videos that you own. When you have selected a specific video, press the down arrow to add the video to your project and repeat this step if you want to add other clips (the clips will be added with a simple transition effect between each clip and you can change it if you want). Be aware that you can play the video to view it before adding it and you can also add images.

Trim video and add transitions

iMovie_screenshot5

If you want to cut a clip in the project, you can click on the clip and then go to the beginning or end of the clip and move the yellow end left or right to cut the part you want. Also, you can change the effect of moving between one clip and another by clicking on the mark shown in the image above, and several options will appear for you to choose from.

Add titles

iMovie_screenshot_8

Want to add text with cool effects to your video? Click on the section that you want to add the text to, then choose the "T" mark indicated at the bottom of the page. The application will give you several options for the shape of the text and how it appears, then you can click on the text in the video preview box to edit it.

Split the video

iMovie_screenshot_9

If you add text to any clip, the text will appear throughout the video, and this is not always desirable, of course. So you can click on the edit button at the bottom (which is similar to scissors) and then scroll the video until the cursor reaches the time you want the text to remain and press the "split" button to separate the video into two separate parts, each part enjoying its own details or effects. Of course, you can use this option with any effects that you want to add to only part or even repeat to delete certain parts in the middle of the video.

Add audio to the video

iMovie_screenshot11

You can add sounds to the video through the "My Voice" window, and when you click on it, the application gives you several options, whether you choose from clips and effects ready in the program or from the clips you have on the device. You can also record your own voice with the microphone tab. When adding the audio, it is added to the background of the video as a green bar, which means that the audio will play in the background. Click on it to adjust as you do in the video, including cutting and adjusting the size. You can also choose how loud the sound is by choosing the headphone sign, which allows you to choose how loud the sound is so as not to overwhelm the sound of the video. You can also, when you choose the adjustment “scissors mark,” to make the sound in the foreground to overwhelm the main video’s sound - the sound bar will turn blue - or keep it as it is in the background and adjust the pitch and loudness of the video separately to suit what you want.

Add filters

iMovie_screenshot4

You can add multiple filters to the video by clicking on the filter tab, which is exactly the same as in the photo and camera application, and here you can choose from many filters such as black and white or color gradient. You can, of course, add the effect to a specific part just by cutting part of the video, as explained earlier.

Change the speed of the video

iMovie_screenshot

Want to make a part of your video in slow motion? You can control the speed by pressing the shown sign and then moving the slider button. Also, to make slow motion more amazing, you can add a sound effect that suggests movement, as mentioned earlier.

The final step

iMovie_screenshot_12

Did you do whatever you wanted? You can now convert the project into a viewable and shareable video by pressing the End button (Back Arrow), then choosing the Share button, and you will find an option to save the video to your photo library or iCloud Drive, and several options for sharing. The video will take some time to be "exported", meaning its format conversion, and then you will find it in the picture library or anywhere you choose to save it. It is worth noting here that what has been explained is not all that the program can do, but what qualifies you to make a good movie is explained. Maybe you can do more exploration that will make your movies more amazing and give you more options.

What do you think about the program? Are you thinking of making any movies using it?

Hi

Apple's iMovie app is good, free, and provides some basic tools for making videos, but it has limited capabilities, as is Apple's habit with its iOS apps.
You will find it different from the same applications directed to the Mac, and there is hardly any similarity. On the other hand, there are applications for making videos that are much stronger than the iMovie application in terms of features, multiple tools, and control over them. I think that the most important of these applications is the Cute Cut application, which has not received its full due despite its importance as a superior video editing and making program. Try it.

The monster app. If you want dear to us in managing yesterday, unfortunately in etiquette, sir, cancel ads. Listen, listen, these are errors from spelling. I mean, as if you were buying the application, go to the settings, except to cancel the ads, and if you are not from the south for you in the PAL App Store program, but I do not know its name, cancel the ads after you install a file that asks you inside the application and opens Safari for me and caused the medical file on the girls of every iPhone, but YouTube does not cancel it. What girls do not want. This is a dictation by God Almighty. I am not wrong. I said after you install an application, you enter an application and click on the counters and do the download. Safari opens and installs the profile. You enter the password of Tarab Shady and the password in the settings Saturday, the file like that. Bing and Link Ads
