There are many vulnerabilities that have previously appeared in previous iOS releases. But since the advent of iOS 10, this is the first vulnerability that is discovered, and it enables you to access messages, contacts, and photos. The vulnerability exists on iPhones and iPads that are running iOS 8.0 through iOS 10.2 beta.

A vulnerability in iOS that allows you to access messages, contacts, and photos

The method will require another device and from it you will call the phone that you want to access, so you must know the number as well - ask Siri, "Who am I?" To give you the number -

First: Call from another phone on the iPhone whose data you want to access, and when the phone rings, press "Message" and then "Custom .." and end the call from the device you are calling from.

Second: The Messages app will open for you to write a custom message. Ask Siri to activate the Voice Over feature for you with “Siri Activate Voice Over” or “Verb Voice Over”.

Third: Press the home button. Now you must do this step several times for it to work. Namely, double-clicking on the name section that will receive the message and pressing the keyboard once. You need to do it quickly in order to see what portion of media you can send. The picture will explain more in the order of steps.

contact

Fourthly: Ask Siri to turn off the Voice Over via “Siri Deactivate Voice Over” or “Close Voice Over” - do not press any part of the screen except the keyboard.

Fifthly: Now you are looking for a name to add in the recipients' field. Just type one letter and a screen will appear for you that contains names. Some names do not contain numbers, and you will find that it is only a name and email. Search for this type of names and you will find the letter "i" next to it. The number in the image below is appropriate. It contains an email only and has an "i" in front of it.

How to protect yourself?

As we mentioned earlier, the method works on devices from iOS 8.0 until the latest version, iOS 10.2, the third beta. There are devices such as the iPhone 4S that Apple has discontinued its support, meaning there are no new versions of it, so we do not know what Apple will do with this category of devices. And for the rest of the devices, there is no radical way to protect ourselves until Apple issues a security update to fill this gap, and for this period you can stop Siri from working when the phone is locked, and this is through Settings, Touch ID and the passcode, then from the bottom prevent Siri from accessing When locked.

What do you think about this trick? What do you expect from Apple towards the devices that stop its support?
