Finally, the new iPhones were announced and came in compliance with all expectations and even some desires. Apple included several features that we wished, including updating the camera and not keeping it as Samsung did. Indeed, this is what Apple did, so let's explore the new in the iPhone 8 and iPhone camera. X.

New in the iPhone 8 / X camera

Front camera

Let's start with the front camera, which Apple did not mention anything about with the iPhone 8, which means that it is still similar to the iPhone 7, but the new one comes in the front camera of the iPhone X, which contributes to the facial recognition system, but it was not satisfied. Apple is doing so by using the facial recognition system to create the same depth effect that can be taken with the rear camera on the iPhone 7 Plus, 8 Plus and iPhone X. A great addition to the selfie, it can also be improved by using the new effect, which focuses on the face and the ability to create wonderful effects around it. And here, we do not mean just effects, but rather a way to manipulate light based on a photographic basis to create different halos and light shapes around the elements and the image below is a vivid example that was not photographed in a studio, but was made only using the iPhone and in a basically not dark environment.

Double optical stabilization

Here is another exclusive feature of the iPhone X (it is called Apple iPhone 10, which is synonymous with the Latin number X). It is the possession of both rear cameras, the optical image stabilization feature, OIS, which of course its direct benefits are obtaining stable images regardless of hand shake, but the other benefit, which may be overlooked at times, is to improve image capture in low-light conditions, and here the presence of optical stabilization in both cameras leads to performance Superior in low-light conditions.

Better depth effect

From here we see common characteristics with the iPhone 8, as the depth effect has been improved in both phones, as it became better and with the possibility of translating faces using the new A11 bionic processor, it became possible to make special effects that are added over the images with the depth effect, and the focus is on centers Faces and objects in the foreground are better, helping to create a more natural blur effect in the background.

Better image processor

Apple has also created a new image processor that identifies many elements in a scene, such as movement, people, and lighting conditions. All this before you capture the image allowing for faster autofocus, capture of a wider range of colors, better processing of each pixel in the image and also better HDR images.

The flash

The technology used in the flash is called Slow Sync, and without going into the techniques of its operation, it allows taking pictures where you want to focus on the lighting of the front element greatly, while obtaining a clear background also without defect. Also, Apple says that the development of the flash will lead to a better evenness in the distribution of light without overwhelming lighting in parts of the image over other parts.

Important little extras

Apple has also added some small and important things, such as new filters to modify images, but the most important addition here is the HEIF image compression system, which will allow capturing images and videos that take up half the space that they previously occupied and of course while maintaining quality.

Some say nothing new from Apple, so what do you think of the camera updates for my iPhone 8 / X? Is the camera an essential factor in your purchase?
