What is Apple's MFi Certification?

When you visit any of the Apple stores, whether official or authorized dealers, you will find a large number of cables sold and bear the MFi logo, as well as Apple always advises its customers to use original accessories and do not say accessories from Apple, but we see in their conferences talking about chargers for companies such as Belkin and Givern. The secret is that these products are MFi certified by Apple. So what is this accreditation?

What is Apple's MFi Certification?

Many people may think that the word MFi is an abbreviation of the phrase "Made for iPhone", but the truth is otherwise. In 2005, Apple announced a certification called MFi, and the letter i at the time symbolized the iPod. This dependence concerns any connections to the device, whether you connect to it from the "old iPhone cable at the time" or the audio port. Over the years, MFi certification has evolved to include gaming devices and other products. And Apple really started not to develop from the materials of its accessories and we started to see MFi cables that are more powerful than the original Apple cable and a lot of different accessories.

In order for any company to get MFi accreditation, it corresponds to Apple, and after multiple stages, Apple approves the company, but this does not mean that it can produce directly, but that before submitting any product, it must send the production plan, design and even packaging to Apple, and then Apple approves the product to issue an order to manufacture and among these The standards use a specific MFi chip and standards for the internal cable that carries current and data. But Apple does not require the shape of the cable, its length, or the quality of the external materials, that is, it can produce a 10 cm or 300 cm cable. The company is free. So, as we mentioned, we saw the highest cables stronger than the original because it was made internally by Apple standards and externally with stronger materials than used in Apple, such as Kevlar, for example in cables.

MFi products from Apple are characterized by being affordable. Of course, they are more expensive than the unknown cables available in the market, but at the same time they are usually cheaper than the original (Apple gets a fee for the MFi products sold). So many Asian factories offer production of unknown cables and write that they are certified by Apple. So Apple has dedicated the (this link) To enable you to identify the cable.

To know whether or not the MFi product is really approved by Apple, visit the previous link and conduct a search, and it will appear as follows:

It is surprising that Apple imposes difficult conditions on other manufacturers, even though their cable charger products are bad and are not subject to MFi

I used to buy before official Apple chargers, but when I bought an unbroken charging cable from Anker, I was comfortable with it, very beautiful.

Peace, mercy and blessings of God
Thank you for this article.
The truth is, in Iraq, there is a problem in accessing centers supported by Apple or obtaining truly supported products from Apple.
For example, the original iPhone cable - as they say in hardware stores, costs $ XNUMX, while the Amazon cable costs $ XNUMX.
Actually, I am at a loss when I buy any of the accessories and accessories for Apple devices in Iraq.

All of the original charging cords that came with the iPhone and we buy them from the market do not pass by two months, unless we find black burns in the golden teeth that are connected to the iPhone, and we do not know whether it is
Because it is kept inside the iPhone when in heavy use, or there is a weakness in the manufacture of chargers
Therefore, Apple should change charger wires
On iPhone and iPad to USB-C
Like MacBooks and keep old chargers for headphones and other small devices

Hi

Thank you for your efforts, this useful and valuable information

But there is a question

Does the MFi standard exist for Mac accessories as well ???

Or only for iPhone and iPads ??

Because as I see - when I open the MFi certification page - the Mac word is not there
