Perhaps the advantages of screen time and application usage limits are one of the most important features in the new system, and this feature should help those who want to monitor and reduce the use of their smartphone, or as they will do a lot, you can monitor your children's use of their phones and set restrictions on applications and find out how they spend their time on the phone. Our addiction to phones does not mean that we should leave children prey to the same trap. is not it?

Turn on the feature

The feature is not working by default, you have to go to Settings to turn it on. To do this, go to Settings -> Device Usage Time to come to you with a welcome button and then choose if the device follows you or your child, and with the start of the feature, it calculates the time from the time of activation and not since the phone was updated. So once you open it, you will find the time of use is something like (1s) as an abbreviation meaning one second, and as the time progresses, the application calculates the time used for each application and for the device in general.
Term of use of the device

Now when you open the application after using the device for a short time, the window shows your username, and under it you will find the average time used for the device for the day. For example, my use in the image above equals an hour and 6 minutes, of which 9 minutes are for social networks, 47 seconds for entertainment and 28 seconds for reading and references (How is that? Well, the categories presented briefly here are for applications without counting the Settings app, but actually most of my use of this watch was in the Settings app. This is shown in the following paragraphs).
- When you click on the name or time, you will be taken to a detailed page that displays your usage of the different categories spread over the periods of the day.
- The next part on the same page is (the most used) and it appears by application (note that most of the usage in the image is for the settings application). This part enables you to enter each application separately and know the times you spend and at what period of the day you spend most of your use with the calculation of the daily average as well as the application category and its age classification. You can also change the classification of the most used by clicking on the phrase "Show Categories" next to the title to display by categories such as social networks or entertainment.
- Then you find the part called "pick up the device" which calculates the total number of times you picked up the device for its use and also tells you the period in the day that you picked up the device the most number of times.
- The last section on the page is the notifications, which calculates the number of notifications you receive from the applications in total and then gives you an average of a certain number of notifications per hour and also the periods of arrival of those notifications.
Note: At the top of the page, you can change the basic unit of measurement from “today” to “the last 7 days” and with changing it the rest of the time units of measure change, for example you are given an average per day instead of an hour. The application also sends a weekly notice indicating the usage.
Down time

This feature enables you to set specific times of the day where no application works except for phone calls and only the applications that you choose to work during the downtime, but from where do you choose these applications?
From the option labeled "Always allow", it is set to allow calls and messages from Apple's messaging app, FaceTime, and Maps by default. Of course, you can remove and add as many applications as you want from the device.
Content and privacy restrictions

It is the "Restrictions" feature in Settings -> General previously, but it has been moved to the Screen Time window.
Access code and share on all devices

The first two options at the end of the page allow you to set a password for device usage time settings, and the next option allows you to collect usage data from all devices on which your cloud account is registered in order to get combined data from all your devices so that you get more accurate usage information.
Application limits

This feature comes for those who want to put an end to the use of certain applications such as Facebook, for example, where you can set for yourself or your children limits that are not crossed for certain applications. And when the limit comes (on your own device), the device tells you that the time has expired, and then you can quickly extend the period or complete the application's work for the rest of the day. These settings work in two ways:
The first method is to go to Settings -> Device Usage -> Application Limits -> Add a Limit. Here, you can set limits for a specific category of applications such as "games" or "social networks".
The second method, which is characterized by the ability to set a limit for a specific application, is to go to Settings -> Device Usage Time -> Click on the Username at the top of the page -> You will find at the bottom the most frequently used applications, click on one of them -> Here you will find the option "Add Limit" at the bottom.
In conclusion

The feature is great in itself as it gives you several tools that make it easy for you to monitor your or your children's use of smart devices and analyze it, and know how time is consumed completely. But the final choice remains for you (my friend) to choose the correct and most appropriate way, and to volunteer all the advantages for your benefit in a way that will benefit you in your religion and world.
