As usual annually, Apple announced the iOS system for this year and focused on pivotal features such as improving performance and screen time and left the rest of the improvements for the user to discover, whether they were somewhat large or infinitesimal, and these small changes are what escapes from our hands if not Attention! Read with us to learn more about iOS 12.

Improvements you may not know about in iOS 12

Automatic system update

One of the new features in iOS 12 is the ability to automatically download system updates. And if you do not want the immediate update and you always prefer to wait to see if the update caused a problem or not for others, the good news is that you can stop it by going to Settings -> General -> Software Update -> Automatic Updates and close the selection.

New weather widget

I find the iOS 12 do not disturb mode modifications great as it has become really tempting to use, and we talked about most of these updates before, but there is another thing which is the new weather widget. When you use Do Not Disturb in Bedtime mode to turn it on at certain times during the day, it cancels notifications from displaying on the lock screen. Then a widget display greeting you with good morning or good evening (depending on the time of the day) in addition to displaying the current weather with its condition for the rest of the day at the close of the end of the period specified for the Do Not Disturb mode, i.e. near the time of waking up.

Isn't that better than waking up to see notifications and missed calls directly?

Note: To make this feature work, be sure to go to Settings -> Privacy -> Location Services -> Weather. Then make sure it is set to allow "always".

Google Maps in CarPlay

The CarPlay feature allows the iPhone to be connected to the car to do many tasks without the need to use the iPhone. Perhaps the most useful one is the ability to use maps directly from the car, but Apple Maps was disturbing the feature, without a doubt, as it is not the same level as Google Maps, but now and finally with iOS 12 and the latest version of CarPlay, you can use different programs from those of Apple, for example, using Google Maps for guidance. You can also use some applications from other developers such as WhatsApp (which we do not recommend using in the car, of course 😀).

Screenshots on iPhone X!

Many iPhone X users were annoyed with the way they took screenshots. As it is captured by pressing the power button with the volume up button, this method makes it easy to take screenshots by mistake, as the two buttons are opposite each other on the site, and users take many shots by mistake when removing the device from their pockets, for example. Honestly, we were hoping that Apple would change the shortcut to be the volume down button instead of raising it so that it would be a little more difficult .. But what Apple did was prevent taking screenshots when the screen was closed (and taking pictures was possible before, so the screen was working and taking a screenshot) .

Improvements in reading QR codes

Apple added the ability to read QR codes via the iPhone's camera since last year. As for this year, iOS 12 comes with improvements in the way the feature works, the camera will determine the QR code indicated so the user knows that the phone has found it. Also, you can now put a shortcut to read the QR code in the Control Center by going to Settings -> Control Center -> Personalize and then add "Scan QR Code" for shortcuts from the bottom of the page.

Send passwords via AirDrop

A great addition for i-cloud keychain users. Where you can now send the registered passwords via Air-Drop by going to Settings -> Passwords and accounts -> Website and application passwords -> Login to the desired website or application password -> Long press on the password, and then you will see an option. Send the password via AirDrop. Then, when sent, it is added directly to the sender's keychain.

Using AirPods to aid hearing

A similar feature was offered by Apple for a long time and it could be used with hearing impaired hearing aids (MFi certified ones). But the feature is now available with Apple's AirPods, where you can place the headphones and then use the iPhone's microphone to transmit the surrounding sounds to you through the speaker. The goal here is to try to make better hearing, especially in meetings and the like, where you can put the iPhone on the table to listen to the conversations and then transmit it to you via the speaker. This feature is activated by going to the control center settings and then adding its own button to activate it via the control center easily.
