When comparing iPhone devices that contain the Home button and the iPhone X and the latest, you will find something strange when pressing the “Power” button in order to enter sleep mode or wake up. In Home button devices, the device enters sleep mode immediately as soon as the button is pressed, but in the X family, it is greatly delayed in responding. So what is going on? And can this be fixed without affecting other properties? Find out the answer in the rest of the article.

The X devices have distinct differences between it and traditional phones with a home button. One of the most important reasons for the slow rapid response to entering sleep mode is that the side button is not limited to the sleep mode button or closing and opening the phone. But there are other properties that can be implemented through this button. Its uses include activating Siri, disabling Face ID, purchasing apps using Face ID, and more. But there are two uses that cause delays in entering sleep mode: accessibility, and Apple pay.

Pay

The Apple pay service requires two clicks on the side buttons to activate the wallet and the cards and what you have prepared inside. Also, accessibility shortcuts are activated by pressing the side button three times if you have enabled it. For example, if you put a shortcut to the lens, that shortcut will be added automatically, and you only have to press three times on the side button to activate it. And if you add another shortcut such as “Smart Reverse”, or add more than one shortcut, when you press three times, a list of shortcuts that you have created will appear for you and you can choose from them what you want.

Why do these shortcuts affect the phone sleep speed?

According to GadgetHacks, if the iPhone goes into sleep mode quickly by simply pressing the side button, activating the accessibility shortcuts and Apple Pay will be nearly impossible. Thus, the iPhone lags in the speed of response, waiting for the command received to it and its implementation. Will the matter settle at one click, or two, so the Apple Pay payment service is invoked, or three accessibility shortcuts are invoked.

Strangely, if you only have an emergency SOS shortcut that only works after pressing five times in a row, entering sleep mode is fast unlike accessibility shortcuts and Apple's payment service. So you don't have to worry about an emergency shortcut.

How can you cancel slow entering sleep mode?

The only way to get your phone to sleep very quickly like traditional iPhones that have the Home button is by disabling these two shortcuts, the Payment Service, and the Side Button accessibility shortcuts. And to do that:

To disable the side button shortcut for Accessibility shortcuts, go to Settings - Accessibility - Accessibility Shortcuts, and uncheck or delete any active shortcut. As for "Zoom," it is disabled via the main Accessibility menu only.

In order to disable the side button shortcut for Apple Pay, it is done through Settings - Wallet and Apple Pay, then disable the "double click button".

How to use these features without the side button?

Apple Pay is automatically activated when the device is placed near the points of sale that support it. So in most cases, disabling the shortcut does not affect in any way.

Instead of buttons, you can use Siri to open the wallet app, and enable or disable any of the accessibility shortcuts, just be sure to use the full name of the setting such as: “Enable Smart Invert Colors” instead of “Enable Smart Invert” or enable AssistiveTouch.

Is getting into sleep mode slow with you? If so, try removing these shortcuts and let us know in the comments.
