But there are still many things that prevent the iPad from completely replacing a Mac or any other computer. Apple may get rid of many of the restrictions that ultimately prevent this. But there are seven things that Apple must work on as soon as possible to ensure the independence of the iPad almost completely temporarily from other devices, and Apple should add the iPad Pro in the upcoming iOS 13 update.
Support for more extensions and file types
One of the important advantages of the computer and the shortage of the iPad is that you can connect to any external storage unit and deal with it immediately with Windows or Mac and run its files. In the iPad, due to the absence of a file manager, if you connect a USB C storage device, the manufacturer of this unit must develop an application on iOS to run files in it. In order for the iPad to compete with the computer, it must have the ability to operate any storage unit as well as "any file" easily without having a large number of additional applications and accessories.
Better multitasking on iOS
Multitasking on iOS is very different from macOS. But Apple took a step to make iOS more like macOS when it added new multitasking features to the iPad, starting with iOS 11. There are some rumors that major multitasking updates are coming with iOS 13.
But the multitasking in the computer is more sophisticated. Perhaps the simplest thing that distinguishes the computer is that you can open the application more than once and work together, such as opening two copies of “Chrome or Safari” and dividing the screen between them.
General Mac-like features
Apple definitely won't integrate iOS and macOS anytime soon, and no one is asking it. But adding many macOS-like features to the iPad Pro will certainly help users a lot, especially when it comes to dealing with peripheral devices.
While the iPad Pro can be connected to an external monitor, there has to be a better solution for using it in this mode. At least an indicator when a mouse or trackpad is connected. We do not say to Apple make the iPad like a Mac, but make it able to emulate the Mac if necessary.
More applications
It can be said that the era of Photoshop is coming to iOS and this will make things a lot easier. And Apple must make every effort to provide the requirements for running these giant applications in the next update.
At this stage, iPad Pro lacks many important professional applications. In other words, Apple needs to release iPad versions for its own applications such as Final Cut Pro X for editing video on the Mac, and Logic Pro X for full professional recording on the Mac as well. And through the Handoff feature, you can continue working on these applications on both the Mac and the iPad, so you can start working on one of them and continue working on the other.
Multiple user accounts
Of course, tablets are the most shared devices among family members or co-workers compared to smartphones. Although you can have multiple accounts and guest accounts on Mac, iOS only allows one account.
Different user accounts can contain different settings and formats on the app, and parents can also control their children's accounts, which makes sharing an iPad between family members more seamless and convenient for everyone. This change is not of the utmost importance, but it will be good for many iPad users.
Make Safari like in macOS
Apple should update the Safari app on the iPad and make it more like Safari on the Mac. This is normal due to the large iPad screen. Or at least Apple is providing a desktop display for the sites.
Extending the night mode to include the entire system
This is a feature that users have been asking for for years. However, Apple introduced a dark mode under the name of Smart Invert, but it was not counted as a night mode at all. Now macOS Mojave has this mode. And it is known that iOS and macOS will not merge. But the Marzipan project that Apple is working on, which will make it easier for developers to create applications that work on both platforms. Thus, there will be many applications that support night mode. Having that mode on iOS, especially the iPad, would have another feel.
