How to charge the battery of the Smart Cover

The smart cover battery supports wireless charging so that you can charge both the phone and the cover battery at the same time via wireless charging.

You can charge the cover battery via the Lightning port as well. And if you use the 18W power adapter for MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, or MacBook, USB-C to Lightning will charge faster.

The iPhone battery will be charged before the cover battery if it is low, then the cover battery. The cover battery can be charged on its own by removing it from the iPhone and connecting it to the charger.

And you can see the battery status by simply connecting it to the charging port or placing it on the wireless charging pad. Or through the widget dedicated to it, where all the batteries related to the iPhone are displayed, such as the primary battery, the cover battery, the Apple Watch battery, and the AirPods battery.

These smartphones come at $ 129 in white or black colors, and are made of the same materials as Apple's silicone cases.

Does smart cover battery work on iPhone X?

Yes, but with a few caveats. These batteries are designed to work on the iPhone XS. There are slight differences between the two phones, the cover is not completely identical to the external phone and the microphone, and the camera port in the cover is not completely identical. It may also cause a message to appear stating that the iPhone is incompatible with the battery. You can dismiss that window and the battery will still work. And if you encounter a charging problem, you may need to restart iPhone X or wait for its system update to iOS 12.1.3 which is still in beta mode.
