DxOMark is the world's most famous site specialized in evaluating the quality of cameras, whether professional DSLRs or smart devices. Yesterday, the site revealed a new step that it took, which is the evaluation of the front camera, "the selfie camera," and explained that it has become very popular and has already started evaluating 12 smartphones recently. So did modern Apple devices get the advanced position? Follow us.

According to what was published by DxOMark, the iPhone XS Max ranked fourth in the "personal" portraits categories, with a score of 82 points. The Google Pixel 3 and the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 came first, and the Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 came in third place.

According to what the site stated, the iPhone XS Max produces better images, whether still images or video, in good lighting condition. In both cases, "still images and video" received a score of 81 and 82, respectively. The reason for him falling to fourth place and losing some points was due to poor performance in low light. While the iPhone XS ranks late and comes in tenth place, with 71 points.

In general, the results of the iPhone XS Max front camera were among the best results noticed in the front cameras thanks to features such as HDR, portrait mode, and bokeh effect. Portrait images are very powerful because of the very good depth effect.

The following image shows the bokeh effect in the XS Max compared to the Google 2 Pixel phone:

The results of DxOMark indicated that the weaknesses of the front camera of the iPhone XS Max is the noise, as it is visible on the faces in many of the pictures taken outside the laboratory. There are also problems with white balance, especially in outdoor places, where colors and their contrast appear unnatural.

The company noted that the results were still acceptable, but that things only got worse under low-light conditions. It indicates that there is a slight improvement compared to its predecessor iPhone X.

The results are as follows:

While the Pixel 3 and Galaxy Note 9 came in the advanced position with 92 points. DxOMark said that the Pixel 3 outperformed the Note 9 in some detail like Focus.

Note 9 also provides some detailed points such as exposure, meaning the amount of light incident on the camera sensor, and color in portraits. Lars Rehm of DxOMark said, "The images taken with a Google phone showed slightly stronger contrast and lighter white balance." He said: The Samsung phone is slightly better in exposure and applies a little contrast to faces, which makes them look more natural.

Have you noticed that Huawei phones, which are the best in the world in rear photography, come in late order in the selfie camera? This means that it relies on 3 cameras to provide a good picture and not advanced technologies, as Google and Samsung do, for example.

What do you think of this report? Do you see a clear delay for the selfie camera on the iPhone in general? Let us know in the comments
