Among the things that Apple will announce at its WWDC 2019 developer conference, which starts next Monday, June 3 in San Jose, California, is the end of the iTunes app that revolutionized the music world when it was first introduced in 2001, although Apple said that no - iTunes will work on macOS 10.15, you might mean that it will offer a Lite version. However, it now appears that the application will be permanently suspended, after spending nearly 18 years in service since Steve Jobs introduced it to Macworld on January 9, 2001. What alternatives will Apple offer? How will we be able to manage our devices?

The move comes as part of Apple's efforts to make its apps consistent across different desktop computers, iPads and iPhones, according to Bloomberg reports. It is expected that Apple will provide separate applications to replace iTunes, such as a music application, a TV application, and a podcast application in the next major version of macOS, which will be revealed at the next Monday conference.

End of iTunes

ITunes has been the only way Apple users have been listening to music, watching movies and TV shows, listening to podcasts, and managing their devices for nearly two decades. This year, Apple is finally ready to move into a new era. The company will launch three new applications for the Mac system for music, television and podcasts to replace iTunes.

This information is in line with a new report from 9To5Mac that claimed iTunes will be renamed to Music on the Mac. In other words, iTunes will be replaced by a new music application, or Apple may offer a Lite version of iTunes with a different name with major modifications, which is expected to become the new tool for syncing and managing Apple devices.

It was from what Steve Jobs quoted from Apple's newsletter about iTunes in 2001:

“Apple did what it did better, making complex applications easier and more powerful. ITunes is way ahead of any other music app. We hope that the significantly simpler user interface will attract more people to the digital music revolution. ” Here's a picture of what iTunes looked like in 2001:

ITunes has taken its fair share of criticism over the years for being such a busy program that Apple has made it all for everything. So splitting it into standalone apps like music, TV, and podcast would be welcome.

Earlier last week, a screenshot of what music and TV apps should look like on macOS 10.15 was leaked.
