Although Safari didn't get much news at the developer conference, it got a lot of attention in the iOS 13 update. There are new features, some small changes, and some new functions that were not there before that made it so much better. Learn about the most important of these updates.

More than 20 features coming to Safari in iOS 13

New listing

There is a new menu to the left or right of the top toolbar, denoted by the letters “AA” and it is not just for fonts as someone who sees it would like it. Clicking on it will show you new and old options, including "View Reader".

"Desktop site request" has been moved

In the past you used to run a desktop site request through the posts window, and this matter was considered unclear to new users, it is now available in the new list with the same name and more clear.

There is an option to request a phone website

Before that, when you choose "Request desktop site", you will not be able to return to the phone view, rather, "Request desktop site" will still be in front of you. In iOS 13 that changed and you can switch between the two options as you like.

Instantly change the size of the website page

When you visit a webpage, the text may be small, and you may need to double-click on it to enlarge. Sometimes, the page gets too large, or not what you want it to be. But in iOS 13, you can through the Site View menu that we mentioned earlier, that you click on the large "A" to enlarge or the small "A" to zoom out.

The options are the same in Mojave's Safari for macOS, where you can zoom the page from 50 to 300%, and by clicking the percentage numbers in the middle you can return to default.

Customize settings for each site separately

In the previous picture, you will notice that there is an option "Site Settings" or Website Settings at the bottom, as it allows you to modify the settings for each site. This is also a feature that Apple brought from the Mac OS system, where you can set the default zoom level for the page, set camera, location and microphone permissions, whether by asking first, allowing or denying. There is also a setting to have the desktop site display the default for each site.

And in the Safari menu in the Settings application, you can set the page zoom level as well by default for all sites through custom zoom. You can also click "Reader" and have all sites support "Reader" by default.

Hide toolbar while scrolling

In previous versions of Safari, the top toolbar was shrunk and the bottom was hidden when you dragged the page up. To see it again, you have to swipe down or click on the page title. In iOS 13, you can hide toolbars permanently through the "Hide Toolbar" option from the new menu. When you restore the toolbar, you can click on the page shrink title at the top of the page.

You can quickly scroll through the webpage

This is when you click and drag the slider to the left or right, and then move up or down, you will quickly move across the webpage.

Refresh the start page

I became the start page in iOS 13 by opening a new tab or directly typing the address. And just like the new macOS 10.15 Catalina system, and instead of previous versions that used to display bookmarks in a chaotic manner even with files, bookmarks are now displayed in a small grid display of two rows with the option "Show more" to see the rest. Next, there is a section below for frequently visited as well as recently visited sites. There is also a Siri Suggestions section.

New look for private or incognito browsing mode

In iOS 12 and earlier, when selecting Private Browsing mode, the top and bottom toolbars are converted to dark gray and the address bar light gray. Since iOS 13 has a system-wide dark mode feature, it was difficult to distinguish private mode in this mode, so Apple changed a few things. In iOS 13, when you open a new tab, there will be a box telling you that you are in private browsing mode.

A screenshot of the entire web page

In older versions, to capture a full screenshot of a webpage, the only way was to create a PDF. Otherwise, you will need to download a third-party app to integrate screenshots of the webpage. But now there is no need for such applications anymore. When you take a screenshot of a webpage in iOS 13, and after clicking on the preview thumbnail, it will open as normal if you take a screenshot, and you can switch to "Full Page".

Choose the size of the image when uploading it

If you need to upload an image to a website in Safari, iOS 13 provides an option to choose the size of the image to upload.

There is a download manager

In iOS 13, a download manager was included in Safari. When you download a file, you will see it in the top right of the address bar. You can also see and preview downloads in the background.

On the iPad, you can drag and drop the downloaded file into another application such as Mail. But on iOS, you can use the posts window to send them somewhere. Additionally, you can click the lens icon next to each download to go to their location in the Files app.

You can also change the location where downloads are saved through Safari's settings. You can also set the Download Manager menu if you want to delete what is in it after one day, on successful downloads, or delete it manually.

In the download manager, you can pause and restart the download, and you can delete it by swiping on it left or right.

Save open tabs as bookmarks

If you fear losing these open sites, Safari in iOS 13 includes a feature to bookmark all open tabs, for easy reference. It's a feature found on macOS. But on iOS, long press the bookmarks icon to save them. And you can save it in a dedicated folder.

Set a time for the tabs to automatically close

When you open the tab viewer in Safari, it offers you options to "close tabs automatically" after a specified period of time by going to Safari in the "Settings" application and displaying the "Closed tabs" section to change it to close bookmarks automatically after a day, week or month. .

Use the address bar to switch to open tabs

If you start typing a site in the address bar, and you already have a tab open for that site, Safari will allow you to instantly switch to that tab instead of opening the site again.

Ease of editing and deleting reference folders

In iOS 13, you'll see redesigned new options when you press and hold a folder that you can choose from.

Open all bookmarks in a folder in new tabs

In the new menu that appears when you press and hold the Bookmarks folder, there is an option to "Open in new tabs". Everything in the folder will open in separate tabs.

Files can be downloaded via links

Since there is a new download manager, you have a new “Download Link” option. For example, if you click and hold on the title of this article, you can download an HTML version of it.

File encryption to the end

End-to-end encryption is encryption so that only the owners read the messages sent, meaning that files remain encrypted from the first endpoint to the second endpoint.

And if you sync your Safari history with iCloud, Apple protects that data by encrypting it until the end in iOS 13. In previous iOS releases, the data was encrypted, but not that way. Thanks to this more secure encryption, you can only access your information on devices that are signed in to iCloud and even Apple itself will not know about it.

No weak passwords anymore

Safari will not allow you to create a weak password anymore. If you try to set a "password" for any account on the website, you will be alerted that the password is weak and a strong password will be suggested.
