Several reports stated that the Apple Watch 6 with its new watchOS 7 system will be able to track oxygen in the blood, which is important to maintain a healthy heart and brain. And it seems that this is not the only feature that will be coming into the watch. Based on Leaked iOS 14 codesIt turns out that there are more features coming for Apple Watch, including sleep tracking, parental control, children’s status, school time or SchoolTime mode, and here are the details.

An important feature for children in the upcoming watchOS 7 update in the Apple Watch

Kid mode feature

One iPhone can pair multiple Apple watches, but only one watch can be used at a time, and each watch is linked to the same iPhone account. Since every Apple Watch is connected to the Apple iPhone account, this new feature will allow one parent to manage their child's Apple Watch through only one iPhone, which is the parent's, and in this case the child is not required to own an iPhone. If this feature is fully developed and released this year, the Apple Watch will be better for kids than ever.

How will the activity tracking function work with the child's mode?

The application tracks activity  Apple Watch keeps you moving throughout the day and encourages you to achieve your fitness goals. It tracks how often you stand, how much you move, and how many minutes of training you perform, and it displays three colored rings that summarize your progress. The goal is to reduce sitting, increase mobility, and get some training by completing each episode of activity each day.

Activity rings on Apple Watch

Apple Watch

The Apple Watch has been set to track adult fitness and health. And some health features such as an ECG are age-restricted because they cannot produce accurate data with children. And Apple, of course, is thinking about how activity tracking works for younger users.

When configuring the Apple Watch in this new Kids Mode, Apple will treat Activity rings differently for the first time. Currently, Activity rings consist of three metrics:

The red ring: It displays the number of calories you have burned from intense movement such as brisk walking or running.

Green ring: Shows the number of minutes of daily exercise.

The blue ring: Shows how many times per day you have stood and moved for at least one minute per hour. If you select to use a wheelchair, the blue stand ring switches into the wheelchair movement ring and displays how many times you move the chair for at least one minute every hour during the day.

Technically speaking, the Red Move ring shows you the number of active calories burned per day versus the greater number of total calories. This whole system is not suitable for children due to their excessive unexpected movements, so we will get wrong readings, so a new system is necessary.

Instead, the Apple Watch will measure movement time rather than calories, as it can track a goal for 90 minutes of movement throughout the day instead of tracking, say, 500 calories burned. Here it appears if the child spends most of his time in video games or sleeping or sitting on the couch. This version works on parents' attention to make their child more active. This feature will also reward children for activities like outdoor play or otherwise.

SchoolTime school time

Apple Watch parental controls go even further in iOS 14 and watchOS 7. A new feature called SchoolTime will allow parents to manage apps that can be used during certain hours, i.e. during school time.

New features will likely be available later this year with the watch's system update. Learn more about the new SchoolTime and Kids mode from our reports here.
