Some important concepts

Before the emergence of Wi-Fi networks, the adoption of computers on networks by wires, and then, a protection protocol appeared, called Wired Equivalent Privacy, short for WEP. Then that protocol evolved into WPA. Since 2006, all routers have been equipped with the new protocol, WPA2, which is more accurate and secure than its predecessor. And it was circulated on all Wi-Fi networks.

How to activate WPA2

WPA2

Firstly: You have to enter the router settings control page by typing IP in Safari or any other browser. Usually, the IP address is http://192.168.1.1, but some routers have a different address. It can be obtained in the following way.

If you use a Mac:

◉ Go to System Preferences ...

◉ Click the network.

◉ Select Advanced ... located in the lower right corner.

◉ Click on TCP / IP in the tab at the top of the window.

◉ Your IP address should be next to the word Router.

◉ Copy and paste the IP address into the URL bar in Safari, then add http: // to the beginning of the address and hit Enter.

If you are using your iPhone:

Go to the Settings app.

◉ Tap on Wi-Fi.

◉ Click on the "i" icon next to the network connection.

◉ You will see your IP address next to the password.

Second: Log in to the settings page using the default username and password (in the event that this is the first time that you log into the settings page), and often use the password admin as a username and password.

ThirdA list of main commands will appear for you, which can be on the left of the screen or at the top of the screen, depending on your router.

From the main command menu, click Wireless Settings. Then the Security section.

Select the encryption protocol of your choice. If possible, you should choose WPA2. If you don't have this option available, switch to WPA.

FourthlyChange the password. This is the password that you will use on your devices to connect to the Wi-Fi network. Make sure the password you choose is tough enough.

FifthlyOnce done, click on the Apply button.

NB: From the same list of wireless settings, it is always better to change the name of the Wi-Fi network, which by default matches the name of the router. Leaving the network name the same is an easy target for hackers.
