HomePod Jailbreak ?! what does that mean?

The jailbreak is still going on by groups of hackers who specialize in finding loopholes, breaking Apple’s restrictions, tampering with their devices and operating systems and controlling almost everything in them for the sake of giving them flexibility. It is no secret to us that the jailbreak has decreased in popularity a lot after Apple added Multiple features keep us away from him and his evils, and discovering vulnerabilities and cracking the protection became the motive of bartering with Apple in most cases. However, the matter has evolved a lot and may extend to non-iPhone devices, which it was not expected to jailbreak.

In the early days of the iPhone and its iOS operating system, before it was even called “iOS,” there were a lot of things that you simply couldn't do without a jailbreak. For example, Apple did not begin to provide direct support for multitasking, until the emergence of the iPhone 4 and iOS 4, and what it provided was very limited.

Given the features that came with the jailbreak, it came at the expense of performance and battery life, not to mention the serious security risks by bypassing many of the protections that Apple included in the iOS system, including restrictions imposed on allowing applications to access data from outside the “mode Protection, such as photos, messages, and contacts.

With the development of the iOS operating system, many of the limitations that were specifically designed to jailbreak have been addressed by Apple expanding the capabilities of iOS in a more secure and controlled manner.

For example, the system now manages multitasking and applications in a way that preserves battery life and performance by not allowing any application to infiltrate and work in secret in the background and do whatever it wants. Likewise, apps can now read photos and contact information, but only by explicitly requesting permission from the user.

However, there is still at least one product from Apple that seems to be the time to ease its restrictions and show new features that it can do by breaking those restrictions and jailbreaking it, which is Apple's HomePod smart speaker, which is still very limited in its capabilities.

HomePod jailbreak

Last year, a security researcher was able to find a loophole to permanently jailbreak the iPhone, regardless of the iOS version it is running. He pointed out that every device running the A-series chip from A5 to A11 is at risk, which in practice means that all iPhones from 2011 any iPhone 4S to 2017 any iPhone X, along with iPad and iPod devices touch related, and that could include up to last year's seventh-generation iPod touch and the 10.2-inch iPad Pro, both of which still use the A10.

It seems that the matter may develop and allow the creation of a new jailbreak tool, called checkra1n, through which it is possible to jailbreak iPhone 5s to iPhone X, even when running the latest iOS versions. It is reported that there is initial support for iOS 14.

Now the developers, researchers, and behind the checkra1n vulnerability have expanded the tool to allow the HomePod operating system, which is now based on tvOS, to unlock it for the first time ever, opening the smart speaker to a whole new world of potential uses.

So far, it appears that the team has managed to jailbreak the original HomePod, which is somewhat unsurprising because it works on the A8 chip, which will be in the range of Apple's chips that are vulnerable to being jailbroken by the old checkm8 vulnerability and thus jailbreaking it will be supported by the new tool checkra1n . On the other hand, the HomePod mini uses a new Apple S5 chip designed specifically for it, which has been well supported and protected against potential security risks, but hey, there are some lurking in it, so will they be able to?

At this point, the jailbreak community was only able to access the HomePod operating system in a very limited way, via what is known as (SSH). However, this is an important achievement, as it has allowed them to roam and explore “HomePod“ audioOS in a way that was not possible before.

What does this mean?

It's not currently clear what might happen as a result of this, but getting this level is an important first step toward opening up a whole new world of possibilities for those who want to jailbreak.

Initially, this would allow for simple actions like displaying custom colors on top of the HomePod, triggering notifications and advertisements from the speaker, and maybe even making them available as standard Bluetooth speakers.

And Siri could be replaced by another assistant on HomePod, along with opening support for more third-party streaming services beyond what Apple already offers.

The HomePod jailbreak is not recommended at all due to the security risks of spying and other things, but given the positive side of this matter, it may encourage Apple to develop new features such as what happened with the iPhone, the HomePod speaker may open to third-party services and applications, and bend The resolve of anyone trying to jailbreak HomePod and put their privacy at risk.

Do you support HomePod jailbreak to get new features? Should Apple consider the demands of its users in order not to fall victim to such piracy? Let us know what you think in the comments.

Apple must meet the demands of its product enthusiasts, instead of searching from outside sources, you may wait for an Apple customer

In terms of ads, this is another matter, but I am sure that if the apps block ads, they will not gain that much, so they put the option to delete ads by paying a subscription fee.

In the past, I was waiting for every jailbreak, and I see in it very beautiful features, especially the Cydia tools that change the appearance of the iPhone system. Now I have become weaker in front of the jailbreak due to the many fears that have been spread against it. Thank God, my device is an iPhone 11 Pro, but I do not want the jailbreak even if it is released. I am content, but there are tools that I wish were on the iPhone, such as the terrible cleaning tool, Cleaner.

Peace, mercy and blessings of God
This is my first time here to share my opinion with you and I want to express my admiration for this program and consider it more than wonderful because of the tremendous efforts I have seen in this program and I thank you for everything you have provided and you will provide a lot to all your followers. I truly thank you from the bottom of my heart.
There is a problem in all iPhones that has not been solved until now, the first is the Hijri date, as the date cannot be modified by an increase of a day or a day delay. Why is this problem Apple did not work to solve, especially we in the Middle East use the Hijri date
Second, why didn't Apple allow its users to change the font to any font, according to the user's preference
Finally, I thank you for your patience

Brother Mahmoud
This is definitely the best way
But applications are many and this is often expensive

The simplest example of the benefit of the jailbreak (remove ads from the iPhone in all its applications)
This is a very simple example

I am paying by credit card to remove ads from apps ..
This is safer than the jailbreak and others

I mean, only Apple programs that you work on? !!

All over..
The mountaineers are no longer enthusiastic as before .. We are waiting for the jailbreak to swim in the world of sieges
Now most of the tools are available in Apple
Not to mention jailbreaking before you protect the device in the storming of the mountain world

This vulnerability can be used to spy on people. Imagine someone enters your same network and can call from HomePod and jailbreak it and then make it a live microphone that listens to everything that happens in your home. Terrifying 😳

Mr. Tariq Mansour, greetings to you first.
Secondly, for God's sake, is there still anyone who uses jailbreaking after all the features Apple has added? Even though there are some features that Apple hasn't added yet :)

What is the use of jailbreaking?!?!

IPhone + jailbreak = infinite 😍
Cydia is a beautiful world for anyone who knows how to deal with it
For example:
Download from anywhere on the Internet (YouTube. Instagram. Facebook. SoundCloud. Twitter. TikTok. etc.) using the most beautiful Dleasy tool, for example, running YouTube in the background, and removing ads 😍
Call Recording ,,
Completely change the appearance of the system ,,
This is a little bit from the world of Cydia ,,
😍
By the way, Apple takes advantage of the Cydia tools and uses them for the system every year with iOS releases

Hi
I have an iPhone X, and when I upgraded to IOS14, it became my phone. When I am speaking, the screen sometimes turns black and does not turn back on until seconds later.
I hope if there is a solution, please advise me and thank you very much

Thanks for the simplified article, I think having it as you mentioned is an incentive for Apple to add these features by default. The same is true with the applications in the software store when they offered things that the operating system could not, and then Apple soon tends to add them.
