Since the launch of the iPhone 12 models in October, Apple has acknowledged that the devices may cause electromagnetic interference to medical devices such as pacemakers and defibrillation devices, and we talked about this problem in an article.IPhone 12 may pose a great danger to heart patients!Apple has now shared additional information, know it.

ICD devices remain the primary treatment in the management of arrhythmias for patients with high-risk cardiac conditions (God bless them). These devices contain batteries, capacitors, sensor circuit, velocity, magnetic sensitive coils and other components with wire inside or outside the core. All of this appears to be affected in one way or another by the presence of another magnetic field emanating from external devices such as phones or wearables.

Apple added the following paragraph to a related support document yesterday:

“Medical devices such as pacemakers and defibrillation devices implanted in the body of a sick human being, may contain sensors that respond to magnets and radio waves upon close contact. To avoid any potential interactions with these devices, keep iPhone and MagSafe at a safe distance of more than 6 inches, 15 cm, more than 12 inches, or 30 cm if charging wirelessly. But consult your doctor and the manufacturer of your device for specific instructions.

While the support document actually mentioned MagSafe accessories mainly, Apple has confirmed that accessories such as MagSafe chargers and MagSafe Duo chargers may also interfere with medical devices, and stated:

“All MagSafe accessories also contain magnets, and the MagSafe charger and MagSafe Duo charger contain radio waves. These magnets and electromagnetic fields may interfere with medical devices.

And Apple continued to say that while all models of the iPhone 12 contain more magnets than previous iPhone models, it is not expected to pose a greater risk of magnetic interference with medical devices compared to older iPhone models.

Earlier this month, a magazine article indicated Heart rhythm journal That the iPhone 12 models could affect the treatment of heart patients due to magnetic interference with implantable medical devices. Three Michigan doctors tested this reaction by carrying an iPhone 12 close to a pacemaker, and it so happened that the device stopped working for the duration of the test, according to the article.

Doctors wrote: We come here with an important public health problem related to the latest generation of iPhone 12, which can prevent life-saving treatment for patients, especially while carrying the phone in the upper pockets. Medical device manufacturers and transplant physicians must remain vigilant in educating patients about this important interaction of the iPhone 12 and other smart wearable devices with their implanted devices.

What do you think of this report? In your opinion, what measures should be followed to prevent this interference? Let us know in the comments.
