How to turn off the automatic switching for AirPods

Do you do headphones AirPods Your switch automatically from one device to another? And spoil you or others to listen to the other device? In this article, we explain why this happens and how to turn off AirPods auto-switching.

These instructions apply to iPhones running iOS 14 and later, iPads running iPadOS 14 and later, and Macs running macOS Big Sur 11 and later. And all of this applies to all AirPods models, including AirPods Pro and AirPods Max.

How to turn off AirPods auto-switching

Apple introduced the AirPods auto-switch feature with iOS 14 and iPadOS 14. It allows AirPods to automatically detect and connect to which device is playing audio for a seamless playback experience. You may want to turn off this feature on devices that you don't want to automatically switch to AirPods. And you may want to still enable auto-switching on the device you use most often with your AirPods. To turn off automatic switching for AirPods, follow these steps:

◉ Make sure that the AirPods are connected to the iPhone or iPad.

◉ Enter Settings.

◉ Then Bluetooth.

◉ Click on the icon (i) Next to AirPods.

◉ Click Connect to This iPhone.

◉ Click When Last Connected to This iPhone.

After changing this setting, AirPods will now automatically switch to that device only if it was the last device they were connected to. If they were recently connected to a different device, they will not automatically switch to the device whose settings you changed.

Why should you turn off AirPods auto-switching?

In theory, Auto Switch is a smart and useful feature, so whoever wants to turn it off is the one who uses more than one device at a time, in this case, AirPods might switch devices back and forth randomly, causing you to confuse listening to any of your devices.

If you listen to a podcast on your iPhone, and another person watches YouTube on an iPad, for example, your AirPods sometimes play your podcast and sometimes YouTube, which is annoying to both of you! By changing this setting, you can avoid this.

How to turn off AirPods auto-switching on Mac

◉ Make sure your AirPods are connected to your Mac.

◉ Click the Apple menu, the Apple logo in the upper corner of the screen.

◉ Click on System Preferences.

Click Bluetooth.

◉ Click Options next to your AirPods.

◉ In the pop-up window, click Connect to this Mac, then click When Last Connected to This Mac.

Yes, I face these inconveniences strongly. When I wear headphones while I listen on the iPhone, I just move my hand, the sound turns to the watch automatically, and although I did this option, the issue is still there, unfortunately, which forced me to turn off the watch's Bluetooth
