Last week, Apple introduced a new service that was designed to make it easy and fast for users iCloud Transfer stored photos and videos to Google photos automatically. Find out how.

If you have a lot of photos and videos stored in any cloud service, whether it is iCloud or Google Photos, in the past you would find yourself stuck in this service and could not transfer your data to others. In order to transfer this data, you would have to download it and then upload it to another service, which consumes a lot of time, not to mention the internet consumption of your package.

If you are an iCloud Photo user and want to switch to Google Photos, Apple has now provided a free tool that makes it easy to transfer your photos and videos.

Even if you are not switching from iPhone to Android, you can use Apple's new tool to back up your iCloud photo library. Here are the steps:

Although the Transfer Tool is easy to use, it only takes a few mouse clicks to start the process, there are a few things you will need to know before starting the transfer.

The list of requirements on Apple's support page indicates that in addition to using iCloud Photos to store your photos and videos, your Apple ID will need to turn on two-factor authentication. Additionally, you will need to ensure that your Google account has enough storage space to handle the transfer.

Transfer iCloud photos to Google photos

The most important thing about the Apple tool is that you don't have to download all of your photos and videos to any storage space, and then upload them to Google Photos separately. Instead, Apple bears the transfer after your Apple ID and Google account are verified.

◉ To start the transfer, visit the homepage privacy.apple.com And log in to the Apple ID associated with your iCloud Photo account. You will be asked to enter the two-factor authentication code that will appear on your iPhone.

◉ Next, in the “Transfer a copy of your data” section, click “Request to transfer a copy of your data”.

◉ From the following menu, scroll down and select Google photos, then flag photos and videos to transfer them. Then click Continue.

Google Photos is the only option available right now, but this tool has been created with the intention of adding more services later.

Apple will show you how much storage your photo library will use, and remind you to check your Google account and make sure you have enough space. If you don't have enough space, the transfer will stop and not everything is copied. Click "Continue" after checking your Google account storage.

However, Google Photos allows you to keep an unlimited amount of photos and videos as long as you choose "high quality" and it is not original; However, there is no option to specify quality in Apple's tool. Starting June 1st, any new photos and videos uploaded to Google will count toward your storage plan. You can log into Google Drive to see how much storage you have, and we would also like to recommend that you log into your Google Photos account and check your settings to see the quality that your photos are stored in.

A popup will ask you to log into your Google account and grant Apple access to your Google Photos library. Follow the instructions.

When finished, the transfer will begin. According to Apple, the process will take anywhere from three to seven days to complete. When Apple completes the transfer, you will receive an email to notify you that the transfer has completed.

Although the transfer process is slow, it is considered the easiest and most reliable tool.

Remember, Google will get rid of unlimited free storage starting June 1, 2021, but photos or videos you transfer before this date will not count against the maximum.

Have you moved your photos from one cloud to another? What do you think of the tool provided by Apple? Let us know in the comments.
