New study: Galaxy S21 phones lose value faster than iPhone 12

The value of smartphones naturally decreases over time just like most other physical goods, as the value of smartphones depreciates from the moment they leave the factory. However, some of them are diminishing in value faster than others. This means that users may find their phones lose their value after a very short period, as happens with Android devices other than the iPhone, and this is what was revealed by a new study that revealed that Galaxy phones S21 It loses its value faster than iPhone 12.

The Samsung Galaxy S21 range of phones is an example of this, especially when compared to the iPhone 12 group. It is no secret that the two companies are constantly competing for the "best-selling smartphone" position, as Apple recently removed Samsung from its position to take the lead. .

The impairment of the entire S21 group was compared versus the entire 12 group. This allows us to know which phone is holding on to its value and which phone is becoming worthless faster, according to research by the site SellCell For used phones.

Study summary

◉ The iPhone 12 group has lost its value between 18.1% and 33.7% since its launch in 2020, and the 12GB iPhone 512 Pro has lost $ 438 since its launch.

◉ The Galaxy S21 series has seen a shocking 44.8% to 57.1% decline in value since its launch in January 2021.

◉ The most expensive iPhone 12 is the 512GB Pro Max at $ 1, it has lost 399% or 30.7% per month since the launch of its value compared to the most expensive phone in the Galaxy series, the S6.1 Ultra 21GB at $ 512, 1% or 599 % Per month since launch.

◉ The 12GB iPhone 128 Pro Max maintains the highest value compared to the others, with a decrease of 18.1% or 3.6% per month in value since its launch in October 2020, which is approximately five months.

◉ The Galaxy S21 Plus 128 has achieved the best sales performance over its peers, despite that it has lost its value of 44.8% or 14.9% per month since its launch in January 2021, that is, almost three months.

◉ The 21GB Galaxy S256 has an impressive 57.1% decrease in value at an average of 19% per month despite having been in the market for only three months.

◉ It lost the cheapest model in the iPhone 12 range of 64 GB at a price of $ 799, more value, as it decreased by 33.7% or 6.7% per month for five months in the market.

◉ The cheapest model in the 21GB S128 range, at $ 799, losing 50.8% or 16.9% per month in just three months.

The iPhone 12 thus carries a much greater value than the Samsung S21.

Why do Samsung phones lose their value faster than the iPhone?

The reasons for this discrepancy in value are likely to be numerous. The corporate loyalty survey that was conducted could include some answers, although 92% of iPhone owners remain loyal to Apple, and in this sense the trust factor is the reason why the iPhone 12 series maintains its value better than the S21 series.

Apple owners looking to upgrade their devices will often stick to Apple. Everyone who owns an old iPhone will upgrade to the latest one, and thus the demand for used iPhone 12 phones will remain high, which will preserve its value as well.

On the other hand, not only do Samsung owners show less loyalty to their company, but 26% of them consider switching to the iPhone once they finish trying their Android phones.

This has two effects. It reduces the demand for Samsung phones, leading to lower value, while at the same time increasing the demand for Apple devices further, which slows down the rate of value shrinkage.

What do you think about this study? What are the factors that made the iPhone slowly lose its value? Let us know what you think in the comments.

The next thing to buy an Apple phone is to enjoy its system and software regardless of some of the advantages that Apple phones lose, such as screen refresh rate

The iPhone system is the reason why its price does not drop because it is only available on one phone other than the quality of manufacturing materials ... Then there is the name ... Apple

True words, but you have forgotten that the problem is not one of the best. The problem is that Samsung has countless productions of phones and you do not know what type of phone they are because they are all almost the same and that is why the large number of types of production makes Samsung lose in this comparison.

A beautiful comparison, but it is not fair that you are comparing the price of a device that was released 6 months ago with a device that was launched 3 months ago. Just in that, you compare the prices of the iPhone devices 3 months ago from now so that every device that passed its issuance is considered the same period

Come after 6 months and see the difference between them in the prices, by seeing that the iPhone maintains its price more

I swore that I wouldn’t push the corrupt Samsung, and the main reason is that there is no security system, and the most thing I do is browse, but once I tried and I was citing a virus 😡

It is very normal that many companies use the Android system on their devices, for this reason the price is dropping.
If the Apple system is also on many devices from different companies, it will face the same thing ..

I remember the first Manzil Note 10 Plus I went and bought it, of course, a Qualcomm processor sat with me exactly a month, and my father sold it and was shocked that its price went down, meaning about XNUMX% it went down from the device’s value even though it was new and preserved. I sold it cheaply, something that defeats its frankness

Here in Saudi Arabia

The iPhone device is worth it, Mashallah

I mean, after a year, you can sell it for a considerable value

For example, the previous model 11 Pro Max XNUMX has been used for one year

When the new model got off, XNUMX people sold the used XNUMX for XNUMX riyals

But if it was another phone, its value would drop by more than XNUMX%

Real talk to some extent, who owns an iPhone device, it is difficult for him to use another device due to its quality and the strong degree of safety in its programs and the continuity of its battery to work for at least XNUMX years and this is a personal experience .. Thanks for this article

This is true, but we, as customers and users, do not benefit from it.

The shopkeeper buys the iPhone from us at a low price but sells it at a high price. This is the problem :)

In Saudi Arabia, there is no such thing

Because you can display it and sell it on platforms like Haraj etc. to other people

Praise be to God, you find buyers, and you do not have to go to the stores to sell it to them, but rather you sell it to users like you directly

In this case, it will not sell cheaply
