In an update  iOS 15 And in iPadOS 15, it became possible for anyone, even if they don't have an Apple device, to join a FaceTime call by creating a link to the conversation that can be shared anywhere like in the popular Zoom app.

With this new method of association, friends and family members who don't have an Apple account can sign in to a FaceTime ‌ call with you using a web browser on any non-Apple device, whether it's a Windows PC or Android phone.

This makes FaceTime a platform-neutral video platform, except that you first need to be an iOS or Mac user to start a ‌FaceTime‌ call and send the link. Here's how it works in iOS 15‌ and iPadOS 15.

Create a FaceTime chat link and share it with other devices

◉ Launch the FaceTime app on your iPhone or iPad.

◉ Click on Create Link.

◉ Give your FaceTime link a recognizable name by clicking Add Name at the top of the action list that appears.

◉ Select a way to share your link from the Actions menu, for example via messages or mail.

◉ Once the link is sent and opened by the recipient, they will be directed to a web page where they can enter their name to join the conversation.

Once they join the call, they will have the usual “FaceTime” options to mute the microphone, disable the video, switch the camera view, and leave the call.

What do you think of this new feature? Is it required and replaces other video chat platforms? Tell us in the comments below.
