After several years of confusion and lack of interest in hardware, Google finally made its first serious attempt to create an eye-catching smartphone that was announced yesterday, and the phone features many new things that we list to you in this article.

Google announces Pixel 6

Graphic Design

This time, Google decided to make a high-quality design, so the phone got rid of plastic and was made of glass, aluminum and stainless steel, like the iPhone and all devices from major companies. A unique design has also been launched that features two different colors on the back separated by a camera strap.

Finally, Google launched its own processor, as does Apple. With this processor, the company focused on the characteristics of artificial intelligence, as the company wants to transfer some of the characteristics of artificial intelligence to the phone itself and not process them in the cloud in order to be done more smoothly. Google has focused heavily on features such as better-than-ever voice dictation and artificial intelligence such as the ability for the phone to listen to the queue when you call institutions like banks to remember your menu choices and display them on the screen in case you forget them.

The new processing power is also described, but there are some doubts about the performance as Google does not use the latest core architectures in all parts of the processor. It also compared the speed with the Pixel 5, which had a Snapdragon 765G processor, which is not of the highest category. So we have to wait for the performance to be compared with the biggest processors in the arena, but Google says it can compete with the higher-end Snapdragon 888.

Security

Google has focused more on security in this device, as it added some system features such as a mark when the microphone or camera is turned on, such as iOS, and also added a special part in the processor for encryption and security in the device.

Camera

Google - finally - updated the camera hardware after years of stability. The sensor has been changed to a larger one that can input 150% more light, and a 4x zoom camera and a wide-angle camera have been added. Of course, it also focused on computerized photography, adding features such as Face Unblur, a feature that can clarify the shape of faces that are photographed during fast movement, such as when you photograph your child playing, and another feature that depends on the development of camera algorithms to take better and clearer photos of people with dark skin, and finally The ability to press and remove elements in the image through artificial intelligence without the need for external programs.

Great dependence on the system

Google has always relied on the quality and smoothness of its Android version to sell the device to unmodified Android enthusiasts. But this year, Google has used its new Android 12 system even more to entice users, as its design is completely new and has advantages that may tempt many Android lovers and perhaps some iOS owners, as it depends on the smoothness of the system and lack of complexity, as is the case with iOS.

24 hour battery?

Google has announced a feature called the Adaptive Battery that, in theory, should distribute the power usage of your favorite apps in a way that gives the phone a lifespan of up to 24 hours. We have to check when reviews are released to see how effective the feature is.

Standard version and Pro version

The Pixel 6 comes with a regular version with a screen size of 6.4 inches with FHD + quality and a Pro with a size of 6.7 inches with QHD + quality. The Pro version also features a larger battery and a wide-angle front camera that can shoot 4K video and a 120 Hz screen, while the regular version has a 90 Hz screen. The Pro version features 12 GB memory and provides a storage option of 512 GB, while the regular version has 8 GB memory and only 128 and 256 GB storage options without 512 GB.

The announced differences are not very big and the rear camera is very similar except that the smaller one does not have a zoom camera. The Pixel 6 is priced at $599, and the Pro version is $899.

PixelPass

This year Google decided to give the world another subscription. A Pixel Pass subscription can now be purchased for $45 per month for a Pixel 6 phone, or $55 for a Pro version. This is not an installment program, but rather a subscription through which you get on the phone. The great thing about Google service is that it is not like Apple that provides a subscription to get the device without other features; With Google with a subscription, you get the premium version of Google services, which is YouTube Premium (without ads), YouTube Music, 200 GB of cloud storage, and Play Pass, which is a bit similar to Apple's Arcade, but it gives you programs already in the store that are not specifically designed.

To clarify, the subscription gives you a new Pixel device every two years, and of course this offer is valid in the United States only

Tap to Snap

It is a strange feature that Google specifically provided, which is the ability to double-click on the device from the back to open the Snapchat camera. Do you want a complete feature in the device for the Snapchat application? 🤔

Five years (security) updates

Since the device is entirely manufactured by Google, it is assumed that the company can release its updates as smoothly as Apple now. But the strange thing is that Google promised five years of security updates and did not promise at least five years of the same system updates as the iPhone, where Google pledges to update the system for only 3 years.

What do you think about the characteristics and design of the phone? Do you think it will succeed or will it not sell as much as its predecessors despite the big improvements? Will the iPhone become the Android world? Share your opinion.
