Google fixes a bug that disables AMP search results in Safari

There is an issue in iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 that prevents Safari from loading AMP links for “Accelerated Mobile Pages.” Google stated that the issue was not intentional and is now fixing it and an update is scheduled to be released soon.

It's a bug in Google search results not including AMP links in Safari on iOS 15, according to Google General Search Coordinator Danny Sullivan who tweeted that Google is working on a fix very soon.

And for those who aren't familiar with AMP, it's a feature designed to make web pages load faster on mobile devices. AMP pages are cached, which allows them to run more quickly, but it's something that isn't always popular with users because some website features are disabled when using AMP when Google re-implements AMP links, add-ons are available in Safari iOS 15 like Amplosion to redirect links AMP to standard web pages.

New update for AirPods Pro launched to enhance conversation

Last Tuesday, Apple released the 4A400 update for the second generation AirPods, AirPods Pro, and AirPods Max. And on AirPods Pro, the update brings the new Conversation Boost feature that Apple showed off at WWDC earlier this year, and it's specifically designed to help people with mild hearing difficulties stay more connected in conversations. The feature uses AirPods Pro's microphones to increase the volume of the person speaking in front of you, making it easier to listen to a face-to-face conversation, and there's also an option to reduce ambient noise. We will talk about the feature in a separate article and how to turn it on.

The European Union plans to fine Apple for antitrust on Apple Pay

The European Commission plans to accuse Apple of anti-competitive behavior in relation to Apple Pay, as it is the only payment service that can use the NFC chip on the iPhone. The case has been investigated since last June. On Android devices, multiple payment services can offer contactless payments using an NFC chip, but on the iPhone, only Apple Pay is allowed any competing services to make use of NFC. Apple could face a hefty fine and force it to unlock the NFC chip for competing payment systems in Europe. Similar investigations have also been opened in Australia.

Microsoft releases Windows 11 and Mac virtualization support seems unlikely

After three months of beta testing, Microsoft officially released Windows 11 on October 5, 2021, which comes with a new design, new multitasking features, and other additions. Perhaps inspired by macOS, the Windows Home screen features rounded corners on many interface elements including app windows, and in combination with a new theme system that combines specific wallpapers and colors, the overall design looks modern, with more depth and less clutter than Windows 10. In the most visible design change, the updated desktop moves the Start menu, taskbar, and interface elements familiar to all Windows users, to the center of the screen just like the macOS Dock.

The taskbar includes shortcuts for Microsoft Edge, widgets, Teams integration, and File Explorer, and there are more and more changes and tweaks that have occurred in Windows 11 that too many to mention.
