The iOS 16.2 update contains a number of new features, such as the Whiteboard application, two lock screen widgets for sleep and medication, as well as improvements to the Always On Display so that you can hide the background and notifications on the iPhone 14 Pro screen, in addition to making improvements On the live activities feature, and more.

A sleep widget and another for medicines on the lock screen

The new sleep widget draws its work from data stored in the Health app and collected by the Apple Watch or other sleep-tracking devices. It provides information such as time spent sleeping as well as sleep quality, and it comes in three different formats.

One format limited to showing the amount of sleep time, another showing the quality of sleep, and a larger format showing sleep time with a visual representation. Clicking on the widget will open the Sleep section of the Health app.

As for the Medication widget, it comes in two forms, one of which displays one medication capsule, and the second lets you know when to take the medication, and you will be alerted to that, if you have registered all your medications.

Update the always-on display feature

We did not feel that the permanent display feature on the screen provided by Apple is real, so something is still visible until the background, in the iOS 16.2 update the lock screen will be completely black and therefore the background will disappear as well as notifications and only widgets, clocks and things that will always work will appear, similar to Android.

There are options to “Show background” and “Show notifications” through the settings under Display and brightness settings, then Always-on display, as shown in the pictures above.

Improvements to existing activities

Added support for current activities for sports scores via the Apple TV app. This feature allows iPhone users to view live scores for MLB, NBA, and Premier League games in real time on the lock screen and on the interactive island on iPhone 14 Pro models.

For example, if you are watching a match, the interactive island displays the results and updates live with the number of goals scored by each team. When long pressed on the interactive island, it expands to show the elapsed time and more description about the game. When you lock the iPhone, the result appears as a logo on the lock screen.

To test the feature with an iPhone on the beta version of iOS 16.2, open the TV app and tap the “Continue” button for a supported game.

Apple says the feature is available for NBA and Premier League games for users in the US and Canada, and for MLB games for users in the US, Canada, Australia, UK, Brazil, Mexico, Japan and South Korea.

Live activities will also be updated frequently when the "More frequent updates" option is enabled, allowing users to view more updated information, but Apple warns that this can drain the battery faster.

An example of an application to my prayer, it is the first prayer application that supports the current activities feature, but after the prayer time ends, Apple does not allow updating the current activities, and the user must enter the application to update them, and it seems that the 16.2 update will solve many problems regarding this feature, have you tried Current activities feature?
