The Reminders application on the iPhone was designed by Apple intelligently, and it is one of the basic applications. But did you know that it is very likely that you are not using this genius app to its full potential, just like most of us. In this article, we mention some useful tips that can help you use the application to the fullest extent, and then improve your experience and make many things easier for you.
Ask Siri to add reminders for you
One effective way to ensure that you don't miss out on something of great importance to you is to write it down right away. But if you are busy and unable to write down this reminder, you can use Siri as an alternative. Just say, "Hey Siri, remind me of this...." Then say the task you need to remember, and Siri will instantly include it in your reminders. You can also provide more details by selecting the time and date you want to remember. For example, you can say, “Hey Siri, remind me when I'm scheduled to meet a client at 5 p.m. tomorrow,” and Siri will manage everything.
Add links, photos, or locations to your reminders
Reminders can contain more than just text. You can add different types of information to your reminders, you can add images, URLs, or any other information you need to your reminders. To do so:
◉ Open the Reminders app.
◉ Choose an existing reminder or create a new one.
◉ Under the name of the reminder, you can add a URL of your choice.
◉ Scroll down a little bit down, you can activate the location feature and select or customize your current location as you wish.
◉ Finally, you can scroll down and add a photo to your reminder.
◉ You can choose to add a photo from your photo library, scan a document, or take a new photo.
Add subtasks to your reminders
Instead of creating separate reminders for each task related to a single topic, you can create one important reminder and add smaller SubTasks to better organize your work. This approach is similar to using the to-do list but offers many more advantages. Here's how to add subtasks to your reminders:
◉ Open the Reminders app.
◉ Click on the reminder to which you want to add subtasks, or create a new reminder by clicking on the (+) sign at the bottom.
◉ Click on the icon next to the reminder name to edit the details.
◉ Scroll down to the Subtasks section and click on Add Subtask.
◉ Type the name of your sub-task and click on “Done”.
◉ Repeat steps 4 and 5 to add additional subtasks.
◉ Once all subtasks have been added, click on “Done” to save changes.
You can also rearrange subtasks by clicking and holding the three horizontal lines next to the subtask name, then dragging them to the desired position. To mark a subtask as complete, simply click the checkbox next to the subtask name.
You can also create subtasks in several different ways:
◉ Tap and hold on a reminder, then drag it to another reminder. The reminder you dragged becomes a subtask of another reminder.
◉ Swipe left on a reminder, then tap Indent. The reminder becomes a subtask of the above reminder.
To undo this, swipe left again on the subtask and tap Hanging Indent.
Give your reminders the right priority
Highlight your most important reminders by giving them a priority level. And this is how:
◉ Open the Reminders app.
◉ Create a new reminder or select an existing one.
◉ Click on the icon next to the reminder.
◉ Under the Priority section, select the priority level you want to set for the reminder. The available options are Low, Medium, High, and None.
◉ Once you have selected the appropriate priority level, click Done to save the changes.
The reminder will now display its priority level next to its name, making it easier for you to prioritize your tasks and keep everything organized.
Add a tag to your reminders
When you have too many reminders, you can organize them by adding tags or tags to them. For example, you can create a tag for work, one for school, and one for your personal stuff. To do so:
◉ Open the Reminders app.
◉ Create a new reminder or select an existing one.
◉ Click on the icon To access reminder details.
◉ Click on “Tags”.
◉ Click on “Add a new tag” and enter the name of the tag you want to add.
◉ You can also select an existing tag from the list of suggested tags.
◉ Click “Done” when you are done adding tags.
◉ To view all your tags, go back to the main Reminders screen and tap on “Tags” at the bottom of the screen.
◉ From there, you can filter your reminders by tag or create a smart list based on specific tags.
Create different lists for different reminders
If you like adding reminders for work and personal matters, you're better off creating different lists for different tasks. To do so:
◉ Open the Reminders app.
◉ Click on Add List in the bottom corner of your screen.
◉ Choose your list name.
◉ Change the color and shape of the icon to what you want.
◉ Tap Done in the top corner of your screen.
You'll probably notice that your list is completely empty, but you can start filling it in by adding reminders within the list. Or you can move an existing reminder to your new list by opening the reminder, going to the bottom, and tapping List. After that, you just need to select the list you want.
Take advantage of smart lists
Now that you know how to create lists, you can improve your experience with smart lists, which automatically populate themselves with reminders based on specific filters you select. To create a smart list, follow these steps:
◉ Open the Reminders app.
◉ Click on the “Add List” option located in the lower corner of your screen.
◉ Select “Make into Smart List”.
◉ Choose your favorite filters.
◉ Click on “Done” in the upper corner of your screen.
◉ Set a name and icon for your list, then tap Done again.
It's important to note that the Smart List will only include reminders that match all of the filters you've chosen, so if you use multiple filters, reminders must meet all criteria to appear on your list.

Is iPhone different from iPhone? I have an iPhone xs, I don't see adding a website, tag, or photo!!!
Only the date and time. I don't know why. The iPhone is updated to the latest version, as well as the application.
May God bless you for the article. It would be better if you enriched your social sites with short, applied videos of what was mentioned in your articles. Thanks

I use the app with the calendar app in family sharing and I share hospital appointments, visits and trips with family and friends and the time I am busy or free. Really, the reminders app with the calendar is a great and very enjoyable thing, especially with family sharing.
Thank you for your valuable comment, Yasser! The Reminders app along with the Calendar app makes it super easy to share important appointments and tasks with friends and family. You can also use Siri to easily add reminders, add photos and links, and set a priority level. If you have any questions, feel free to ask us. 😊

Thanks for the wonderful article 🌹🌹
It is a very good article, but most people in the Arab world do not use many of the wonderful features of the iPhone. Is it because they do not benefit from it or many things that they are not good at using and due to the lack of Apple explanations of the advantages and uses of its phone, as well as most of the support centers in the Arab countries. They are already ignorant of the programming and advantages of the iPhone, and I personally asked several centers iPhone support in my country about the uses of a section of the iPhone's features, such as shortcuts, reminders, etc. They apologize. I am not useful and of no importance.
Thank you for your valuable comment, Fares Al-Janabi! Unfortunately, this is a common problem in the Arab world. Indeed, some of the features may be overlooked
I use it to schedule appointments for essential things and it is important because some appointments are after a month or three months

There is another feature, that you link the reminder to the place so that when you reach a specific place or leave a specific place, it alerts you to the reminder.
Nice article.
