The Apple Watch has developed a lot in succession of different versions over recent years, but many believe that the watchOS operating system has not developed in parallel at the same pace, and it is not surprising what came recently in leaks published by the American newspaper Bloomberg about major changes that the upcoming Apple watch operating system watchOS 10 may witness. It is the largest since its launch. In this article, we will discuss some of the advantages that we hope will be among the major changes in the system that Apple will bring to us in the coming months.

Improved user interface

The user interface is the basic and essential component for the user who may not care much about what goes on in the background of the system. For years, the Apple Watch has maintained a fixed user interface, which may undergo some changes between each update and the next, but it has kept the same features.

With the watchOS 10 update, we hope for a change in the user interface, especially the home screen, with more options for arranging applications, whether in rows or in folders, similar to the current situation in the iOS system, instead of the current way that makes accessing any application somewhat difficult.

Camera application development

The Camera application on the Apple Watch is considered one of the most important applications, although it has not been updated much since its first appearance in 2015, and its main function is to help the user take pictures from the iPhone camera remotely via the Apple Watch.

With the development of iPhone cameras and their extra complexities, it will be remarkable to have a new application in the upcoming watchOS 10 update that takes advantage of the additional cameras available on the iPhone, and more control options such as switching to “portrait” mode and “cinema mode” and activating the flash when needed.

Rest days feature

No one disagrees about the improvements witnessed by the fitness application in the Apple Watch and its ability to encourage users to set and achieve exercise goals, but what if you are sick or have special circumstances that prevent you from exercising and achieving the goals that you previously set through the application? Here comes the role of the rest days feature.

It is well known among athletes that rest days are essential to maintaining physical fitness, so it is surprising that this option was not available nine years after the launch of the watch.

Therefore, we hope that Apple will add a rest day option to the fitness app, or even enable the watch to recognize the days when no exercise has been done and ask if these days are unplanned rest days.

Allow development of watch faces

Apple allowed developers to make applications for the Apple Watch since the watchOS 2 update years ago, but it did not do the same with Watch Faces, and Apple remained a monopoly on the design of those interfaces and has already provided many interfaces of varying attractiveness and usefulness.

In any case, allowing developers to design and publish Apple Watch interfaces through the App Store would be welcome and would give the user wider options to make the watch interface more suitable for him.

No drop support for older versions

Of course, the newer versions of the Apple Watch will get the upcoming watchOS 10 update, but we hope that support will not be dropped for any of the older versions and that Apple will continue to provide updates for all versions of the watch that is currently working with the watchOS 9 update. This includes the fourth version of the Apple Watch and beyond, and all versions of the cheaper SE version, whether the first or second generation, in addition to the Ultra version.

If you use an Apple Watch, which features would you like to see with the upcoming watchOS 10 update?
