Owns the Files app On the iPhone And the iPad is a set of amazing capabilities that you may need badly, and Apple has provided this free and distinctive application, and unfortunately many users are ignorant of its features. In this article, we mention some interesting tasks that can be accomplished using the Files application on the iPhone and iPad.
The Files app is a good way to help users access and arrange files on their iPhone and iPad.
However, many users are unaware of the additional capabilities of it beyond the basic file management functions. Some of the most important of these are the various tasks that can be accomplished using the Files application:
Scan documents
The Notes app is one of the best ways to scan documents. But it stores scanned documents inside a note, so you need to transfer it to Files to use it with other applications, and Apple provided document scanning through the Files application directly. To do so, follow these steps:
◉ Open the Files app and go to the Browse tab.
◉ Click on the three dots (…) in the upper corner of the screen.
◉ Select the “Scan Documents” option from the list.
◉ Align your device's camera with the document.
◉ Wait for the app to scan the document. If necessary, capture the document manually.
◉ After scanning, tap Save to save the document to your device's local storage.
◉ If you want to edit the scanned document before saving it, you can access the editing tools by clicking on the preview. Under editing tools, you can crop the document, rotate it, etc. Once you're done editing, click Done and then Save to save your changes.
Connect to a server and browse other devices
Connecting to a server means establishing a network connection between your device, such as a computer or mobile device, and a remote server or computer. This connection allows you to access and interact with files, services, or resources on the server. Through your mind, you can browse the files of your computer or someone else's through the phone.
To connect to a server using the Files app, follow these steps:
◉ Open the Files app, go to the Browse tab and press the three dots (…).
◉ From the list, select “Connect to Server”.
◉ In the Server field, enter the connection string of the server you want to connect to, and then click Next.
◉ Depending on the type of network share, select either “Guest” if it is an unprotected network share or “Registered User” for a protected share.
◉ If you select “Registered User”, fill in the name and password fields with your credentials for protected sharing. Then press Next to continue.
◉ Once the connection is established, the Files app will display a list of files and folders available on the server.
◉ To access and view files, just click on any file or folder in the list. You can perform actions such as copying or moving items in and out, similar to how you work with files locally on your device.
Fill out forms
Apple provides a built-in PDF editor in the Files app to help you with basic PDF manipulation. Although this isn't a full-fledged editor, it works well for simple editing or when you want to sign or fill out a PDF form that's originally stored on your device or on iCloud.
To fill out forms using the Files app, you can follow these steps:
◉ Open the Files app, then go to the folder where the PDF file is located.
◉ Locate and open the PDF file you want to fill.
◉ Once you open the PDF file, you will see rectangular boxes around all the empty text fields in the form.
◉ Click on a text field, and the keyboard will appear, allowing you to enter the text you want. You can also adjust the position of the text within the field if needed.
◉ Continue filling out the form by entering text in each relevant field.
◉ After you fill out the form, review all the information you entered to make sure it is accurate.
◉ Once you are satisfied with the filled out form, click on Done to save the changes.
◉ The PDF editor built into the Files app provides basic functionality for editing and filling out PDF forms. Allows you to enter text in custom fields and adjust the position of the entered text.
Annotate images and documents
Besides editing and filling out PDFs, the Files app also lets you annotate documents and images. This is useful when the photos or documents you want to comment on are in the Files app, as you can now comment on them without having to move them between apps.
To annotate images and documents using the Files app, follow these steps:
◉ Open the Files app, select the photo or document you want to annotate and open it.
◉ Once you open the image or document, you will find the Markup button, indicated by the pen icon. Click this button to bring up the Markup toolbar.
◉ Depending on your annotation needs, select the appropriate tool from the markup toolbar.
For example, you can use the Pen tool to draw or write on the image or document, the Highlight tool to emphasize certain sections, or the Text tool to add text annotations.
◉ Use the given tool to annotate the image or document as desired. You can draw, write, highlight, or add text comments directly on the file.
◉ After completing the annotations, click “Done” to save.
Compress and decompress files
If you need to share multiple files online or via email, compressing them can simplify the process. The Files app provides a convenient way to compress and decompress files.
To compress files using the Files app, follow these steps:
◉ Open the Files app, then create a folder and put all the files you want to compress into that folder.
◉ You can select files individually if you prefer not to put them inside a folder.
◉ Click on the three dots (…) located in the upper corner of the screen. Then select “Select All” to select all files. Or manually select specific files without putting them in a folder.
◉ Next, tap on the three dots (…) in the bottom corner of the screen and select “Press”. The Files app will immediately create a zip file in the same folder, name it “Archive.zip” and if a file with the same name already exists, a number will be appended to the name for easy identification.
Similarly, the Files app can help you unzip files. If you received a zip file or created one previously, you can easily unzip it using the Files app without the need for a third-party app. To do this:
◉ Tap on the archived ZIP file within the Files app.
◉ The Files app will automatically decompress the file and put all its contents in a new folder named “Archive”.
By using the compression and decompression features of the Files app, you can easily reduce the size of multiple files for sharing or extract the contents of a ZIP file without the need for additional software.
Merge images into PDF
Similar to zip and decompress files, there may be cases when you need to combine multiple image files into a PDF document. The good thing is, the Files app really helps with that.
To create a PDF from multiple image files using the Files app, follow these steps:
◉ Collect all the images you want to include in a PDF and put them in one folder inside the Files app.
◉ Click on the three dots (…) located in the upper corner of the screen.
◉ From the menu that appears, select “Select” to enter selection mode.
◉ Choose the image files you want to include in the PDF by clicking on each file. You can select multiple files by clicking on them individually.
◉ Once you have selected the desired image files, click on the three dots (…) at the bottom of the screen.
◉ From the available options, select “Create PDF”.
◉ By following these steps, the Files app will create a PDF document by merging the selected image files.
◉ This allows you to easily create a single PDF containing multiple images directly within the Files app.
Convert photos
Apple offers Quick Actions within its apps to simplify specific tasks. For example, the Files app includes the Convert Image Quick Action, which simplifies the process of converting images into different formats.
To take advantage of this quick procedure, follow these steps:
◉ Open the Files app and navigate to the folder containing the image you want to convert.
◉ Long press on the image file you wish to convert to activate the context menu.
◉ From the context menu, select Quick Actions, then choose Convert Image.
◉ A window will appear asking you to select the output file format. Choose the desired format from the list provided.
◉ Next, you will be asked to select your preferred image size for the converted file.
◉ After making selections, the quick action will continue to convert the image and save it to the same folder.
◉ And you can apply quick image conversion action to multiple images at once, allowing you to convert multiple images in one operation.
By following these steps, you can easily convert images to different formats using the quick image conversion procedure within the Files app. This feature simplifies the conversion process and provides convenience when working with various image formats.
Remove backgrounds from photos
The Files app includes another handy quick action, background remove, which allows you to easily remove backgrounds from photos.
To take advantage of this quick procedure, follow these steps:
◉ Open the Files app and navigate to the folder containing the image you want to remove the background from.
◉ Long press on the specific image file you wish to work with to activate the context menu.
◉ From the context menu, select “Quick Actions” and then select “Remove Background”.
◉ The Files app will start removing the background, and a new file will be created with a transparent background in the same folder.
◉ In addition, just like the quick photo transformation action, you can also apply the quick background removal action to multiple photos at once. This enables you to remove backgrounds from multiple photos in one operation.
Thus, you can use the full potential of the Files application on the iPhone and iPad and take advantage of its various features. As you can see, this free app offers a bunch of excellent functions. Moreover, it integrates seamlessly across all your Apple devices. To ensure your files keep syncing, remember to enable iCloud sync on each device.

Unfortunately, the system is stupid and backward
I sat for an hour to edit the pdf file and it wasn't right 😕
Hi ʀᴀɢᴇʜ ѕᴘɪᴅᴇʀ 𖣔 🕷️, I apologize if you had difficulty editing the PDF. Dealing with PDF files can be a challenge at times, especially if the document is complex. But not to worry, Apple's Files app provides simple tools to deal with this problem. 😊👍🏻
I should point out that Apple's Files app is not necessarily the perfect choice for all users and circumstances. Sometimes you may find third-party PDF editors more useful, and these are available on the App Store.
Good luck working with PDF documents in the future! 📝🍀
Thank you for considering the idea of including a photo in the comments. We hope to see that soon and I wish you success and prosperity.
You will be rewarded well
I was not aware of the existence of most of these features explicitly
Why don't you add in the comments at least a picture without the video temporarily, so that if we encounter problems with the iPhone, we send it to you for the purpose of clarification?
Hi al_fanar AR 🙋♂️, thanks for your great suggestion, well, the idea of adding the ability to include images in comments looks really interesting and useful 👍. We will take it into consideration but we would like to mention that this feature needs to be developed and updated by the programming team. So, it may take some time ⏳. We thank you for your patience and trust in us.
Has the folded iPhone 15 appeared? I saw it in a Chinese application that looks like YouTube, a video application
Hello al_fanar AR! 🍏 So far, Apple has not officially announced the folded iPhone 15. What you've seen on the Chinese app might just be unofficial guesses or leaks. I would like to remind you that it is always better to wait for official announcements from Apple itself to get accurate and correct information. 📱😉
Thank you very much for the reply 😘
Forgot to remember that, starting from iOS 13, the Files application supports external flash or hard disk. The second thing is that some developers allow access to application files using the Files application, such as WhatsApp. File Manager allows this.
Hello Ali Hussein Al Marfadi 🙋♂️! Yes, iOS 13 and above supports external flash and hard disk in the Files app, thanks for reminding us of that 🙏. As for accessing the files of apps like WhatsApp, it really depends on the policy of each app. But as I mentioned, file management allows this in some cases 👍.
Thanks for the wonderful article
Very useful article, may God reward you
The file application still needs to be arranged, organized and fixed!? And now it is still shared with most applications in compulsory ways and not in optional ways, and this is not correct!?
Also, it still needs the features of editing photos and movies!?
And if he didn't need to upgrade, we wouldn't have found the photo app still reliable!?
But when will this happen!?
I need an app that takes raw photos for iPhone 11. It's a free app, please
Hi Ibrahim 🙋♂️, you can use the Adobe Lightroom app, it's free and supports shooting in RAW format on iPhone 11. Just make sure you set the settings correctly to be able to take photos in this format. Photography fun for you! 📸🍏
Valuable information, thank you
I hope very soon to add more features to it because it is still missing a lot…
I also hope that the recent section or tab will be removed because it bothers me a lot. For example, I opened some files or pictures and these files appear, and I do not want anyone to access them if I give my iPhone to someone
Another thing is that some long images, when I open them in the Photos application, appear in their full quality, but if I transfer them to the Files application, they open in bad quality, and I cannot round them in full accuracy.
Regarding the issue of long images that can be obtained from a screenshot or downloading a manu, when I want to translate them by applying files or images, he cannot recognize the text because it is necessary for the image to be normal, and this is bad
Hello Noir 🙋♂️! I completely understand your three issues with the Files app. For the first issue, there is currently no way to remove the Recents section, but you can use the Privacy feature in your device settings to restrict access to the Files app. For the second issue, it is believed that Apple should improve its handling of higher resolution images in the Files app. Finally, for long image translations, the app may have difficulties recognizing text in images that are too long. Despite these challenges, I believe Apple will continue to improve these issues going forward 🍏🔨. Thanks for your feedback!
God is right with you
The recent or recent section is a dilemma on iPhone, iPad, and Mac as well 🤦🏻♀️
The stupidest section exists and is always open by default
And one uses it
Excellent article, as usual, creative people
I found and benefited 👍
Thank you for the article and for sharing such valuable and really useful information
After reading the full article, there are many advantages that I did not know, may God reward you with good ❤️🗡️
I want your help. When I want to remove the background, I press the image a little, then a menu appears, from which I chose a quick preview. I pressed it, but it did not appear to delete the background. Why? iPhone XR, version 14
Welcome al_fanar AR! 😊 Don't worry, I think it's simple. On the iPhone XR, certain options may not appear in the Quick View menu as they do on other devices. But you can still delete the background in another way. Go to “Settings” then “Wallpaper” and press “Choose a new image”. From here, you can choose a blank image or another image of your choice. In this way, you will have deleted the current background. 📱💡
The system must be updated to version 16
One of the most important applications for me, but some points I would not have known had it not been for iPhone Islam. Thank you from the depths
I'm done and I'm done, thank you ☺️ I'm reading ☝️
