Start or open a conversation on the iMessage app
Before you use Check In, open a conversation with the person you want to send a check-in notification to.

Check In is below the initial options, so tap More to see the second list of options.
Click Check In
Press Check In and the pre-selected Check In will appear in the text message bar.
Press the Edit button
Don't hit send yet! Click the “Edit” button to add the information you want to send.
Choose your Check In settings
You'll see two options at the top of the screen, “When I Arrive” or “After A Timer.” Choose what's right for you. If you want the recipient to know that you arrived safely at a certain destination, choose the first destination. If you choose “When I arrive,” enter your destination address. If you choose “temporary dimension,” set the amount of time you allocate to yourself.
Click “Done” and submit your check-in

If you choose a timer instead, the feature will notify your contact when you manually end the timer, indicating that you no longer need help. Conversely, if the timer expires without your intervention, your contact will be notified that you did not check in.
