The balance of power in artificial intelligence is shifting. Companies such as OpenAI Google and even Microsoft stole the spotlight from Apple, which everyone is waiting for what it will do next month when it unveils new artificial intelligence features. Experts believe that Apple is in a difficult position, because it needs to convince its users and investors that it stands on equal footing with OpenAI and other companies. That is why it must surprise everyone with exciting things in the field of artificial intelligence, and that is why in the following lines we will learn about 10 new artificial intelligence features coming to the iOS 18 operating system.

New AI features in iOS 18

According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple will unveil Project Greymatter, a set of artificial intelligence tools that the company will integrate into core apps like Safari, Photos, and Notes.
- New tools for editing and modifying images.
- Transcribe voice memo.
- Suggested responses to emails and messages.
- Emojis are automatically generated based on the content of user messages, providing brand new emojis for any occasion.
- Improve web searching in Safari.
- Faster, more accurate searches with Spotlight.
- More natural feedback and interactions via the voice assistant Siri.
- A more advanced version of Siri designed for the Apple Watch.
- Smart summaries of missed notifications, individual messages, web pages, news articles, documents, and notes.
- New tools for developers will be available on its Xcode platform.
Gorman explained that Apple will rely on a different approach during its annual developers conference this year when dealing with artificial intelligence, as it will focus on launching AI features that the average user can benefit from in their daily life. Much of the processing for less compute-intensive AI features will run entirely on the iPhone. But if the feature requires more power, the work will be moved to the cloud to protect users' privacy.
Finally, Mark Gurman believes that Apple will market many of its new AI features as “preview” at least in beta versions of iOS 18 before it officially launches in September, to make it clear that the technology is not yet definitively complete.
