It's been about three years since Apple introduced the tracker Air TagIt is a small device that can track your items and purposes, such as a bag, car keys, an umbrella, even a bicycle, and any personal item that you are afraid of losing. However, we haven't heard about any plans for Apple's own tracker since then. But apparently the company intends to launch the second generation of AirTag in the middle of next year 2025.

According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, a new version of the AirTag is scheduled to arrive around the middle of next year. The first tracker was announced in April 2021, so it's possible that the company will launch the second generation around the same time next year. Gurman also reported that Apple is conducting manufacturing tests with its partners in Asia in order to ship the new product, codenamed B589, in 2025.

What's new in AirTag 2

In his regular newsletter, Gorman said the second-generation AirTag tracker will come with a number of new features. Including, a better chip with improved location tracking functionality. Gorman also believes that the AirTag 2 will feature the same second-generation UWB ultra-wideband chip as the iPhone 15, ninth-generation Apple Watch, and Watch Ultra 2.

While the U1 chip only works at a distance of a few meters (about 10 metres), Apple's second generation UWB chip is able to cover a longer distance of up to 60 metres. This allowed Apple to create a new feature that allows users to find their friends through the precise search feature.

Finally, Apple is expected to launch the second generation of the Airtag tracker in various forms, and it will also integrate with the Vision Pro mixed reality glasses.
