Many of us spend a lot of time staring at our phone, and this constant exposure to a bright screen can strain our eyes, especially in low-light conditions or during night hours, and this is known as white point. Here comes the importance of dimming the iPhone screen below the standard brightness settings, as this makes a big difference. If your device's screen is too bright for comfort, the usual solution is to go to Settings → Display & Brightness, then drag the brightness slider to the left, or open Control Center and adjust from there. However, if the lowest brightness setting isn't enough for you, there is another way to make the screen darker.
This feature is very useful if you need to use your device in dark environments, such as a bedroom. It is also suitable for people with light sensitivity, as it provides a more comfortable viewing experience that reduces eye strain. We learn how to set it up below.

Reduce the white point

◉ Open Settings on the iPhone, then Facilitation of use accessibility.
◉ Scroll down and select Accessibility Shortcut.
◉ Tap Reduce White Point, then drag it up near the top of the list using the three
◉ Now, simply click three times on the side button (power button) of the iPhone to display the Accessibility shortcuts menu, then click on Reduce White Point.

◉ The iPhone screen will now be dimmer than the standard or default level.
◉ To return the white point to normal, simply triple-click the side button again and then click Reduce White Point to deselect it.
Adjust white point
If the white point is still too bright or too dim, you can adjust it manually through Settings, then go to Accessibility, then Display & Text Size, then scroll down and turn on Reduce White Point.

This will reveal a slider that you can move left or right to change the brightness level.
Reduced white dots at bedtime
It is possible to have the “Reduced White Point” setting start when you sleep, or when you activate your sleep focus. This provides an automatic way to reduce screen brightness.
It is known that blue light can harm normal sleep by disrupting the production of melatonin, a hormone vital for regulating sleep. This makes autoplay useful if you have a habit of browsing your phone before bed, and therefore does not affect the quality of your sleep. Here's how to do it.
◉ Open the Shortcuts application, then press the + sign in the upper corner of the screen, then press Add Action.

◉ Type “White Point” in the search, then choose “Set White Point.”
◉ Click on the blue text “Turn,” then choose Toggle from the drop-down menu.
◉ Click on Done in the upper corner of the screen.

◉ After following the above steps, you will see the new “Set White Point” shortcut in the shortcuts list.

◉ Now the shortcut is ready to use, but complete the following steps to make it work automatically.
◉ In the Shortcuts application, select the “Automation” tab, then press the + sign in the upper corner of the screen.
◉ Under “Personal Automation,” choose “Sleep.”

◉ On the “When” screen, select “Bedtime Begins” and “Run Immediately,” then press “Next.”
◉ On the When Bedtime Starts screen, choose the custom Set White Point shortcut.

◉ Later, when bedtime starts or when you enable Sleep Focus, the white point on your screen will be automatically reduced.
Disable white point when sleep time ends
To make sure that the white dots on the iPhone screen reset when bedtime ends in the morning, you just need to create an additional mechanism. You'll do the same steps you used to create the previous automatic control, except instead of selecting Bedtime Begins in, select Waking Up. Here are these steps again with the modified step.
◉ In the Shortcuts app, select the “Automation” tab, then tap the + sign in the upper corner of the screen.
◉ Under “Personal Automatic Control,” select “Sleep.”
◉ On the “When” screen, select “Wake up and turn on immediately,” then press “Next.”
◉ On the When Bedtime Starts screen, choose the custom Set White Point shortcut.
◉ Therefore, the existing white dots will now return to normal when your sleep time ends.
