Apple made it easier to change the size of the widget on the iPhone home screen in the iOS 18 update, so you will no longer have to delete it to add other sizes. You can now adjust the size of the widget directly from your home screen to any size you want, but there are some very important things you should know that we will mention at the end of the article. The new method also works on iPad running iPadOS 18.

To change the size of the widget in older updates, you had to press and hold the widget, then “Remove Widget”, then open the home screen editor, click on the plus sign symbol (+), search for the widget again and choose the size you want, then Add it, and so on. It was a tedious process, you are limited to certain sizes and you have to take some steps to choose from. But that is completely different in the iOS 18 update.
How to change the size of widgets and app icons in iOS 18
Thanks to the iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 update, you no longer need to fiddle with the widget gallery to adjust their sizes. Here's how to easily change their sizes:
Use quick actions to resize

Simply touch and hold the current widget, and you'll see the new resizing options in the quick actions menu. You can also touch and hold the app icon on your home screen to turn it into a widget, if the app already has a widget. Quick Actions provide up to four resizing options:
Application icon: The grid button turns the widget into an application icon. This app icon will not replace any app icons already on your home screen.
Small widget: The current application icon or widget is converted into a small two-dimensional widget.
Average widget: Converts the current app icon or widget into a medium-sized 2x4 widget.
Large widget: It turns the current application icon or widget into a large 4×4 widget.

Drag to resize the widget
You can also drag the corner of the widget to make it larger or smaller, but you can't turn it into an app icon that way.
