When the iOS 17 update was released for the first time, the Clock app on the iPhone got a new and exciting feature that allows users to set multiple timers and follow them through the lock screen, as well as through the Notification Center, and through the dynamic island. As for the iOS 18 update, Apple gave us something else equally exciting for the stopwatch.

In an early beta version of the iOS 17.4 update, Apple provided a preview of what live activities will look like for the stopwatch widget in the Watch app. But unfortunately, this feature did not appear in any of the versions of iOS 17, and was found in the beta updates for iOS 18. See what Apple introduced in the Clock application in the iOS 18 update.

From iPhoneIslam.com A smartphone displaying a stopwatch reading 30.68 seconds is placed on a laptop keyboard. Featuring the iOS 18 update, the screen displays “Lap” and “Stop” options, and showcases the app’s signature feature for improved time tracking.

Big change to stopwatch in iOS 18

From iPhoneIslam.com, a stopwatch animation in the Watch app that starts running when you press the green Start button. The time starts at 00:00:00 and counts forward, reflecting one of the new goals in the iOS 18 update.

In the iOS 18 update, all you have to do is open the Clock app, tap the “Stopwatch” tab at the bottom, then tap “Start” in either the digital or analog display to start counting. You can also ask Siri to start the stopwatch, activate it by searching in Spotlight, or by long-pressing the watch icon on your Home screen or App Library and starting the timer from Quick Actions.

You can see live stopwatch activity from the lock screen or notification center at all times. It will also be visible in the dynamic island on the iPhone 14 Pro and later iPhones.

Just like in the Clock app, you can pause the stopwatch and record laps. After pausing, you can stop and end the stopwatch and live activity. This works from the Lock screen, Notification Center, and the extended dynamic island. Touch and hold the dynamic island to see the controls. If you want to see the analog interface, you can swipe to it in the Watch app, but it won't appear that way in live activity.

While the timer feature in the Watch app has been compatible with Live Activity since it was introduced in the iOS 16.1 update, there was no way to view the stopwatch outside of the Watch app. Adding live activity support reduces the possibility of accidentally activating the stopwatch and forgetting it. It also allows you to use other apps without having to return to the watch app every time you want to interact with the stopwatch.

We mentioned in a previous article that when the iPhone battery runs out, the iPhone will still display the time on the screen. In addition to the time, an image of the empty battery and the word “iPhone is Findable” will appear. You can view the article through this link -Here.
