Many experts and technology enthusiasts have started to conduct strength and durability tests on Apple's most expensive and latest device, which is... IPhone 16 Pro MaxAs we know, these tests aim to measure the device's ability to withstand shocks and scratches and whether the new iPhone can actually survive falling from high places. In this article, we will learn about the iPhone 16 Pro Max's performance in the drop test.

IPhone 16 Pro Max

According to Apple, the iPhone 16 Pro series features a matte composite glass back. A premium grade 5 titanium design gives the body extreme durability. In addition to the latest generation of Ceramic Shield front, which is much stronger than the previous version. This means that the iPhone 16 Pro or Pro Max can withstand shocks and drops without shattering or breaking. Let's see in the next paragraph how Apple's latest phones will stand up to the drop test.

Drop test

While testing the iPhone 16 Pro Max by Allstate, one of the largest insurance companies in America. It turns out that the device failed the drop test and here's what happened:

The iPhone 16 Pro Max was tested with DropBot to simulate a front-to-back drop onto concrete from a height of six feet (about 1.8 meters).

In a front-to-bottom drop test, the iPhone 16 Pro Max screen shattered and there were visible scratches along the titanium frame. This drop caused the device to stop working and not respond to taps on the screen.

In the back drop test, the back glass shattered after just one drop. Even the frame for the camera system was damaged and broken. However, the device worked without any problem, as did the camera.

The result, as the video shows, is that the iPhone 16 Pro Max failed Allstate's drop test like other phones. You might wonder why, as the device is durable and has a strong ceramic shield. The short answer is, glass and hard surfaces don't mix. So no matter how durable your phone is, it won't hold up when dropped on a hard surface. Also, keep in mind that the result will vary every time the iPhone is dropped due to factors such as the angle of the drop, the height, and the ground on which the device is dropped.

Finally, the iPhone 16 Pro Max screen replacement costs around $29 under warranty (or $379 out of warranty). You can also replace a shattered back glass for $29 with ‌AppleCare‌ Plus or $199 out of warranty. If the front and back of your device are shattered, the cost will be $499 out of warranty (or $58 with warranty).
