in IOS 18 update Many new features have been added to the Reminders app to increase productivity and make the app more reliable than ever before. Below we will explain all the new features in detail, God willing.
Do you rely on reminders app?
Personally, I rely on the Reminders app for many of my life tasks. For example, my wife, children and I share a list of requests. When developing an app, I put the tasks that need to be completed. The truth is that the Reminders app is indispensable for me. It is available in the system with a simple interface and is free. With the iOS 18 updates, I think it has become better.
What are the new Reminders app features in iOS 18?
Create and manage reminders in the Calendar app
One of the most important and biggest features that Apple has introduced in the Reminders app is the ability to create and manage reminders within the Calendar app. The feature also combines calendar events and reminders through one app in order to facilitate the user’s daily follow-up of important matters.
I know you won't get all the features of the Reminders app inside the Calendar app, but combining the two apps together will save you a lot of time and make it easier to track your tasks from one place with ease.
To create a new reminder from within the Calendar application: Follow the following steps:
Click on the (+) sign, choose (Reminder) from above, then write the details you want the app to remind you of.
Reorder today's list
In the second update to Smart Lists, you will be able to rearrange the different sections of the Today list by default and organize the Today list in the following order:
- Missed reminders.
- Reminders categorized under All-Day list.
- Reminders that are timed and categorized into Morning, Afternoon and Evening.
Additionally, you can rearrange these three sections to display them in the way that suits you. This is done by going to the Today menu and clicking on the three dots in the upper right corner, choosing Edit Sections and dragging them to arrange them in the way that suits you.
Show subtasks within smart lists
One of the new features in the iOS 18 app is that it contains a set of smart lists such as the Today list and the Scheduled list. The new feature in iOS 18 is that smart lists support displaying subtasks, unlike before in iOS 17. But in iOS 18, you can display all subtasks at once within the list in an organized manner, whether in the Today list or (Scheduled). To do this, you have to click on the blue Subtasks at the bottom of the main task.
New Reminders App Shortcuts in iOS 18
Apple has added some new actions to the Reminders app to the Shortcuts app, making the user experience much easier than before.
New shortcuts from Apple include:
- Show/hide completed reminders.
- Show/hide a given Smart List.
Recover recently deleted lists
Sometimes we may delete things and want to get them back again; therefore, Apple added a new section that includes all the things that were recently deleted. It is worth noting that deleted reminders will remain in the deleted list for 30 days. This is the same way that happens in the Photos or Notes app.
The list is called Recently Deleted and you'll find it in the My Lists section. If you want to recover a reminder you deleted, go to the Recently Deleted list, click the circle next to it, and then click Recover.

I mentioned the missing feature in the first comment, which is writing and erasing groceries from the lock screen without having to open the application, whether it is a reminders application or something else.
Because I haven't reached it yet iOS 18
All my thanks and appreciation to you
This is good news and even the developer of one of the applications told me that the feature is still working, but I did not know how to access it, knowing that I added the two applications to the lock screen. Is it possible to explain the method if possible? Thank you and my regards to you.
By God, I regretted updating to iOS 18 because it eliminated a very professional and practical feature that I used, which was writing down groceries and deleting them from the lock screen without having to open the iPhone. Why? I don’t know. Amazing, Apple.
Welcome, my fellow countryman 🌷, I know exactly how you feel 🙁. But let me tell you that Apple did not cancel this feature with the new iOS 18 update, but rather changed its location a little. You can now write and delete groceries from the lock screen via the Reminders app, which was updated in iOS 18. The good news is that this app has become more effective and easier to use with the addition of many new features. Don't worry, Apple is always keen to make our lives easier, even if it had to remove the drinking water button from the side of the refrigerator! 😅🍏📱
The call recording feature needs a little development.
Such as the ability to approve or reject the user's desire so that the second party does not record a recording without the knowledge of the second party and the second party sometimes approves or rejects recording calls, which causes problems for some people.
For example, when the second party says to the first party, “I do not want to record,” the first party records without the second party knowing.
If Apple does not add this feature, it will create chaos in the call recording and stopping the recording whenever it wants.
I wish Apple would add the ability to reject or accept call recording.
Hello world of iOS and technology! 🍏💬 I completely understand your concern about call privacy and agree with you about the need for improvement in this feature. Unfortunately, I am just a blogger expressing the news and I cannot influence the decisions made by Apple. 📱😅 We hope that Apple will respond to this feedback in future updates. Thank you for your valuable opinion! 🙏😊
Reminders are important applications, especially after linking them to the calendar and the ability to manage them from it.
According to my attempts to use it, it does not work according to the advertisements available for it. I tried it and tried to write my travel and its date, but it did not remind me of anything. When I arrived at the desired place, it did not indicate that I had arrived at the site. After several attempts, I left it and ignored it because it was of no use.
Hi Fares Al-Janabi 🙋♂️, Unfortunately, it seems that you have encountered some issues with the Reminders app. This may be due to some settings that you have not activated. Try to make sure that all permissions are enabled for the app in the settings. Also, don't forget to update to the latest version of iOS, as this may solve the problem. If the problem persists, there may be a programming error that will be fixed in the upcoming updates 📱👍🏼.
I wish there was a synchronization between the reminders app and the calendar app because the messages of appointments or meetings that include a date and time when we click on the date and time take us to the calendar, but the reminders must be added manually and who will save the date, time and appointment at the same time while the calendar adds everything The reminders app only works with the messages app I wish the user interface was improved I see it weak it needs to be smarter
Hi Arkan 🙋♂️, I talked about a topic that interests many of us! 🎯 Actually, the sync feature between the Reminders app and the Calendar app has been added in the latest iOS 18 update. You can now create and manage reminders directly from within the Calendar app 📅. As for the user interface, I think Apple is always striving to improve it and make it smoother and easier to use. We hope to see major improvements in future updates! 😄📱
