Apple introduced in IOS 18 update A smart new way to alert you if your iPhone charger is charging slower than usual or operating at low efficiency. This new feature appears in Settings, so you can check if your iPhone is charging at the ideal speed or slower than expected.
How to know if you are using a slow iPhone charger
In Settings, go to Battery section, you will find the message “Slow Charger” you will find when the iPhone detects that the charger is indeed slow. You will also see the charging times with an orange bar. This visual indicator appears in the battery usage view for 24 hours and 10 days.
What makes a charger “slow”?
Of course, this is due to several factors, such as:
◉ Low-power wired chargers: A charger is considered slow if it has a capacity of 7.5 watts or less. These chargers are often old or from unknown companies, and take much longer to charge your phone than modern high-power chargers.
◉ Like traditional wireless chargers, standard Qi1 wireless chargers that deliver less than 10W of power are classified as slow chargers. These chargers, while convenient for everyday use, do not offer the optimal charging speed that modern MagSafe or Qi2 chargers offer.
◉ Multiple USB ports, especially in cars, are often limited in capacity. These ports are primarily designed for communication and data transfer, not for fast charging, which makes them charge your phone noticeably slowly.
◉ Shared chargers: When you connect multiple devices to a single charger, the electrical power is divided between them. This means that each device will get a portion of the total power, which slows down the charging process for all connected devices.
Other common causes of slow shipping
Several conditions can slow down the charging speed of your iPhone. A counterfeit charger could be the culprit, for example. Even some genuine wireless chargers from other companies claim to be compatible with MagSafe but only offer standard Qi charging speeds.
Also, if you keep accessories like headphones and AirPods connected while wirelessly charging, it makes the iPhone charge at 7.5 watts to meet safety standards.
Also, running apps like social media and short videos, playing high-graphics games, or streaming video at high brightness while charging can reduce charging speeds, because this makes the iPhone work harder to manage heat and power.
Also, charging in a hot environment may cause the iPhone to temporarily stop charging until its temperature drops.
Therefore, it is recommended to leave the iPhone in sleep mode when charging and not using it, as this ensures fast charging and also protects the charging port from damage due to loosening the wire during use.
How to charge iPhone faster
For the fastest possible charging speeds:
◉ It is recommended to use a high-power USB-C charger that supports Power Delivery technology. These chargers provide high power that ensures your phone is charged at the fastest possible speed.
◉ Also choose the right cable, for iPhone 15 and later users, use a direct USB-C cable without connectors or converters, and ensure the quality of the cable. For older iPhone models, use a USB-C to Lightning cable.
◉ You also have two excellent options for fast wireless charging, the original Apple MagSafe charger, and any Qi2-certified wireless charger. Both options offer charging speeds that are far superior to traditional Qi chargers, ensuring a faster and more efficient charge for your iPhone.

I use the original Apple 18W cable and the plug is from another company, Rove Power.
Thank you, brother. May God protect you.
We took the mini and started begging for our brothers and sisters' chargers because they had a 20 watt charger!
I discovered the slow charging by chance when charging it with a 5-watt charger!
Hi MohammedJassim 😄, It seems that you are living a real adventure with chargers! The iPhone mini really needs a more powerful charger for fast charging, and the 20W charger is a good option. But don't worry, slow charging won't harm your device, it will just take a little longer to charge. Maybe this is a chance to relax and get away from technology for a while! 😉🔌📱
I didn't find this feature on my phone 13,
In the battery section, it only appears if the charger is less than 20 watts or if it gets hot. It tells you that charging has stopped due to heat!
We want the answer and response from a real human being, not from a robot programmed with artificial intelligence.
Hello brother, I do not expect that a human being can respond to all these comments within seconds like artificial intelligence does.
This is what Apple wants. It sells you the device without a charger to force you to buy it from its store at an increased price, claiming that it is original and approved. This is a marketing ploy.
Why doesn't it come with the box or is it environmentally friendly?
Hi Mustafa 🙋♂️, I understand your approach. It is worth noting that Apple is not the only company that removed the charger from the phone box. There were other companies that did so and announced it as a step towards preserving the environment 🌍. In fact, a person can buy a charger from anywhere other than the Apple Store, but they must make sure that it is certified and safe to use with the iPhone to avoid any problems in the future. Basically, the choice of the charger is up to the user himself, of course! 📱⚡😉
Peace, mercy and blessings of God,
Apple was the first to take this step by removing the charger from the box of its phones starting with the iPhone 12 in 2020, and justified this with environmental motives to reduce electronic waste.
After that, some other companies followed suit and announced the removal of the charger from their phone boxes, the most prominent of these companies are: 1. Samsung:
It removed the charger starting with the Galaxy S 21 series in 2021, citing the same environmental reasons. 2. Xiaomi :
It removed the charger in the Mi 11 in 2021, but it provided an option for customers to get the charger for free upon ordering in some markets. 3. Google :
It removed the charger starting with the Pixel 6 phones in 2021, and confirmed that it made this move because most users have old chargers. 4. Oppo and Realme:
I started reducing the number of models that come with a charger, especially in some budget or mid-range phones.
Some other companies still provide a charger with phones, but they may be gradually removing it due to environmental pressure or marketing tradition.
Hello, is charging with a slow charger during the night better than a fast charger during the night? Thank you.
Hi Ali 🙋♂️! For overnight charging, it is preferable to use a slow charger, as it can be better for the battery life in the long run. A high-speed charger may be ideal if you need a fast charge, but it can generate excess heat and this can affect the battery life. In the long run, it is best to avoid charging your phone's battery frequently and quickly. Always remember not to leave your phone at 100% charge for very long periods 👍. Thanks for your question!
We hope Apple will clean up the charging and battery percentage soon.
Although the fast charger makes the iPhone hotter and more worn out
Hi Salman 🤗! Unfortunately, Apple has not yet provided the feature of displaying the percentage of charging and decreasing directly. As for using the fast charger, it does make the iPhone get hotter. But don't worry, Apple has equipped its devices with effective thermal management that ensures that the device's performance is not negatively affected. Such cases are temporary and usually disappear once charging is complete. Always at your service! 😊🍏
Excellent, but can I set alerts, for example, for the iPhone if the battery percentage drops low, or the battery percentage, for example, the battery percentage in general, or excuse me, my battery life is 76%. Can I, for example, activate it among you for another period, and it tells me how old the battery is there?
Hi Saad Aldosari80 🙋♂️, of course you can! In Settings, go to “Battery” then “Battery Health”. Here you will find the battery percentage. If it drops below XNUMX%, a message will appear saying that the maximum battery capacity has been reduced. So, you can review these settings from time to time to check the health of your device’s battery 👌🔋. As for alerts, unfortunately iOS does not have the option to enable low battery alerts yet. We hope Apple adds this feature in future updates 🙏🍎.
In fact, this feature is very excellent for knowing the battery accurately, but as far as I know, nothing has changed. These steps are generally present, which I mentioned in this article. You can go to the settings and do all of this.
Hello Saad Al-Dosari44 🙋♂️! You are right in what you say, the steps you mentioned in the article are already present in the settings, but what distinguishes this update is the addition of new alerts that appear when the iPhone detects that the charger is slow. This feature is new and was not available in previous versions of iOS. 📱⚡😉
I have a question. I bought a charger from a company called Anker at 65 speeds. It has four charging ports. One of them is USB-C. The rest of the ports are like the ports of old chargers. Is this charger good or not? Are these chargers reliable?
Anker charger is approved by Apple, even on its website it sells some of its selected items! No, but it will not charge your device 65, nor even 50, nor 30 in the case of the iPhone, because it is specified in the device system at 20 and will not exceed it, of course, it depends on the phone model. For example, the regular 12 device and the mini, the first charges 20 and the second charges 12 watts, although it has the same specifications!
It is preferable that you charge it from the Type C port and not the Type A port from the head of the wall charger!
