Since its debut in 2011, Apple's voice assistant has been able to...Crab“Changing the way we interact with our iPhones. Siri is capable of many amazing things today, including making calls and playing music. Along with answering questions, sharing contacts, getting information, and performing tasks smoothly and accurately, Apple’s virtual assistant was not like that in its early days. Let’s take you on a journey back in time, as we explore together the story of how Siri came to be, moment by moment, and how it moved from the secret halls of the Pentagon to Apple Park.
Siri start
Siri can be said to have started in 2003, when the US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) in collaboration with the Stanford Research Institute decided to fund the CALO project. It is a personal assistant capable of learning to perform very simple tasks such as understanding what is inside files in order to organize and archive them. The goal of this project was to create an artificial intelligence capable of understanding and executing voice commands with unprecedented accuracy.
In 2007, a group of researchers at the Stanford Research Institute who implemented the CALO project decided to establish their own company to market the technology they developed. The company was named Siri. If you are wondering why the name Siri?
The answer, according to the researchers, was because they wanted a name that was easy to remember, short to pronounce, human-friendly to provide a unique experience, and easy to book a domain name for a cheap price. The word Siri in Swahili means “secret.” In Norse, it means a woman who leads to victory. In Sinhala, it means “beauty.”
Jobs and Siri
When Siri launched its app in early 2010, it was Steve Jobs He was very excited about the new technology. He immediately met with the company’s founders to talk about the future and capabilities of Siri. During the meeting, Jobs made it clear that Apple was on the right track to dominate the smartphone market. And that Siri could play a crucial role in this. For about 37 days, the Apple founder was in intensive communication to push for the acquisition and then Siri’s services.
Siri acquisition
In April 2010, it acquired Camel Apple Inc. acquired Siri for $200 million, marking a pivotal moment in the virtual assistant’s journey. The acquisition, overseen by Steve Jobs, integrated Siri into Apple’s ecosystem. Initially released as a standalone app for the iPhone operating system in February 2010, Siri was integrated into the iPhone 4S, which was unveiled on October 4, 2011. Apple subsequently removed the standalone Siri app from the App Store, making it an exclusive tool for the company’s devices.
Improve my siri
Since its initial release, Siri has featured a number of advanced technologies. It uses a speech recognition engine, provided by Microsoft’s Nuance Communications. In addition to advanced machine learning techniques such as convolutional neural networks and extended short term memoryLanguage support was also expanded to include Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, and Russian by 2013. Voice options have also evolved, and after Siri was limited to the voice of American artist Susan Bennett in 2005, it later supported other female as well as male voices.
As for the main improvements, the phrase to activate the voice assistant “Hey Siri” was added in 2014. Along with improved privacy features and the ability to process user commands on the device and perform many tasks smoothly and quickly.
Legacy and impact
Ultimately, Siri represents a quantum leap in how humans interact with technology. Its influence extends far beyond Apple’s ecosystem. It paved the way for voice assistants on smartphones and helped develop competitors like Amazon’s Alexa and Google’s voice assistant. Despite criticism over the years for its limited features and voice recognition issues, Siri remains an integral part of Apple products and represents a vital step toward a brighter future where computers interact with humans in a more natural and effective way.

أنا بالنسبة لي كم مستخدم iPhone اعتمد على Siri بكثير أمور منها الاتصال بالأشخاص
Nothing has ruined our home except artificial intelligence.
Oh Sisi 😂 The electricity is going to be cut off
Oh Siri, may your mother rest in peace, the electricity is back on
Ya Abdullah 😅 This is a known problem with artificial intelligence, but don't worry, Siri is still in the development stage and will improve over time. God willing, in the near future, Siri will turn back on the electricity at your command! 😂💡🔌
I have a question about ads and I hope you don’t be harsh with me in your response as happened to me on the same subject! My question is, do you know that the size and number of ads that appear on your site are more active and dense in some countries compared to others? An example from my “personal experience” in the Middle East, for example, I found that the number and amount of ads that appear when I open one of your articles is not equal to a quarter of the number of ads that appear to me in the United States or Britain. Is there a specific reason for this? Thank you.
Hi Ahmed Ali 🙋♂️, Thank you for your valuable question! 🌟 As for the ads that appear on our site, they change based on many factors. These factors include the user's location, time of day, personal preferences, and more. This makes each user's experience unique. If there are differences in the number of ads shown in different countries, this could be due to several reasons, including local content strategy and demand for specific types of ads. I hope this answer answered your question! 😄👍
No matter how much we talk about Siri, its use is very weak. In its beginnings, it was a great revolution and gave the iPhone great value, but Siri married GPT and did not give the iPhone anything that complements the iPhone’s position. Rather, an update is available on Android devices. I was suffering from the state of the icons, so this problem ended, the camera developed, and the battery improved. I believe that the iPhone is complete and no longer complains about anything.
Hi Arkan, 😊
I agree with you that Siri was a revolution in its beginnings, but let's not forget that development is continuous and change is the only constant in the world of technology. 🔄💡
Of course, some updates may appear on competing devices before they appear on the iPhone, but that doesn't detract from the value of the iPhone as a whole. 📱✨
As for Siri and GPT, if this update is available on competing devices, this does not diminish the value of Siri, but rather indicates the importance of this technology.
Thank you for your comment and have a nice day! 😁👍🏼
In the experimental update 18 point 2, Siri has been integrated with chatGPT.
I used Siri from the first iPhone and it was not up to the required level
But after the developments and improvements, and now in the iPhone 16 Pro and artificial intelligence, after the experiment, I noticed an improvement in the level of understanding and voice recognition, as well as the level of response and interaction, but it cannot compete with the voice simulator for chat gpt
Hi Saleh Hasan 🙋♂️, It seems that you enjoyed the latest Siri experience on the iPhone 16 Pro! But you feel that there is still room for more improvements especially compared to chat gpt, right? 🤔 Well, innovation and development are always at the heart of Apple, don't worry! Maybe in the future we will see new challenges between Siri and chat gpt 😄. Thank you for sharing your opinion with iPhoneIslam + Phonegram!
I believe that Siri was just a marketing tool for Apple at first and did not provide any benefit to the user, but rather was a burden on Apple until it was integrated with artificial intelligence.
Hello dear Ayman👋, I do not deny that Siri started as a marketing tool, but can we ignore the huge improvements that have occurred in this voice assistant? 🤔 Siri now offers a wide range of tasks, from playing music to scheduling appointments and much more. Thanks to artificial intelligence, Siri has become more understanding of commands and requests. Therefore, it can be said that Siri has evolved significantly from a mere “marketing tool” to a real personal assistant. 😄📱💬
The old voice is now in VoiceOver.
Siri is one of the amazing things that has caused a stir since its launch on the iPhone 4S and ignited competition in the personal assistant market, but Siri at the present time is not at the level of other personal assistants. I use it sometimes to carry out simple requests or related to things inside the device, but for complex requests it still says “this what I found on the web”
Hi Ahmed 🙋♂️, I totally agree with you. Siri does have some limitations when dealing with complex requests. But let's not forget that it was basically just a pilot project at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency! 🧪🔬 Since then, Apple has made significant improvements to Siri, and has shown a strong commitment to developing this technology. 🚀🍎 Let's be patient and see what Apple has in store for Siri in the future! 😊
Siri is slow to understand, slow to execute, and boring.
I did not try it when they smartened it with ChatGPT due to the limited hardware of any new iPhone, and this is very frustrating on the one hand, and on the other hand, the apple is sleeping on honey and the failure of this fake assistant to develop to be smarter in twenty years, for the apple to recently seek help from the suspicious OpenAI company to collect information.
Damn Siri and whoever follows her especially when she hallucinates in Arabic.
Welcome Suleiman Mohammed 🙋♂️! I think Siri might be like coffee, not for everyone but for those who love it, it's perfect ☕. Of course, there's always room for improvement and I think Apple is working on that. And remember that failure is the first step towards progress. If Siri is babbling in Arabic, it's a good opportunity to learn a new language, maybe Spanish? 🤷♂️😂. Always here to add some fun to your day!
