According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is currently working on a giant foldable iPad. When opened, the screen would be about 20 inches, or the size of two iPad Pros side by side.
Gurman noted that Apple’s main goal is to avoid the crease or fold that runs through the middle of the display above the hinge when the device is open. This crease has remained visible even in Samsung’s foldable phones, which it has tried to get rid of since its Galaxy Fold, which was released in 2019, but failed in that mission.
In contrast, Apple wants to design a device without folds or creases, so it is working on many models. So that the foldable iPad looks like a single, non-separable piece of glass.
Of course, nothing is clear yet and we don't know if the company has succeeded or not. But Gorman explained that the iPhone maker has made great progress in building a device without creases. The company's initial designs show an invisible crease.
Gorman also denied that Apple will use a hybrid operating system (between the iPad and the Mac) and indicated that the foldable iPad will run iPadOS. By 2028, this system will be able to run Mac applications.

According to the latest rumors, Apple is working on a foldable iPhone alongside the foldable tablet, which could come out in 2026 or 2027. Although Apple considered introducing a foldable device with a screen that folds outward, it eventually settled on offering the same design that is common in the smartphone market.
That's why Apple's foldable iPhone is expected to have a book-like design similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold. The foldable iPhone will have a larger screen than the iPhone 16 Pro Max (which has a 6.9-inch screen).
