With iOS 18.2, Apple added the ability to integrate ChatGPT with Apple Intelligence to expand the range of AI capabilities available to users on supported iPhones. One feature you may not know about is the ability to generate images within the Messages app, ready to share. ChatGPT relies on DALL E technology to generate these images, and the results are often much better than those provided by Apple’s Image Playground tool. Read on to learn how you can do it.
Setting up ChatGPT on iPhone
If you have an iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 16 with Apple Intelligence enabled, setting up ChatGPT integration takes a few simple steps, and you can get started without even needing a ChatGPT account. You can always start with the basic setup and upgrade to a linked account later if needed, though testing has shown that there’s not much difference between the two in everyday use on the iPhone.
◉ Open Settings.
◉ Tap Apple Intelligence & Siri.
◉ Under the “Extensions” section, tap ChatGPT.
◉ Turn on the option next to Use ChatGPT.
If you have a free or paid ChatGPT account, you can log in from this screen using your account details.
Create images in the Messages app
When you enable ChatGPT integration, whenever you use Siri, it will analyze your request to see if it needs an answer from ChatGPT. However, you can indicate that you want to use ChatGPT by simply starting your Siri request with the phrase “ChatGPT.”
So, the next time you’re in a Messages conversation and want to express something with a picture, tap the text field, then hold down the side button on your iPhone to activate Siri, and say something like: “ChatGPT, create a picture of a cat reading a book about fish.” Wait a few seconds, and ChatGPT will insert the image into the text field, ready to share in the conversation.
If you like the image, click the “Send” button to send it. If the image is not what you expected, you have several options:
– You can press “Rewrite”, and ChatGPT will create a new image from scratch based on your request.
– Or you can tap on one of the suggestions provided by ChatGPT to add specific details to the image.
– You can also click on “Improve with ChatGPT” and write your own description for more accurate details.
Once done, hit the colored arrow button to send the request to ChatGPT, and it will do its magic.
Siri's capabilities are enhanced with ChatGPT
As you can see, Siri’s integration with ChatGPT greatly enhances its capabilities compared to what most iPhone users are used to. This integration works well even with complex requests that include problem solving, writing assistance, detailed explanations, and step-by-step instructions.

All of this is useless as long as Apple's intelligence is limited to languages other than Arabic. Blessings in Jumnay.
Hello creative Mohammed Al-Jalnar 🌟, I agree with you that the language support for Arabic in some Apple services needs improvement, but let's remember that there was a time when major companies did not support the Arabic language at all. Now, we can use Apple products in Arabic. However, I trust that Apple is always striving to improve the user experience and I expect that we will see improvements in this area soon. So it's okay to be patient a little, the best is yet to come, God willing! 🍏😉
Artificial intelligence is only Trump's right. The rest of the country 😂 We will have watermelon intelligence with me when the iPhone 22 appears
I have an iPhone 13 Pro Max and it is updated to 18.3. If you search in the settings about chatgpt, all the mentioned lists will appear, but when you click, they are hidden 🥲
Hi Mohamed Alao 🙋♂️! Sorry for the inconvenience. It seems like there’s a software bug. You might want to reboot your device or even reinstall the update, but don’t worry, Siri is still better than the self-service robots at restaurants – at least she won’t be asking you “Would you like fries with that?” all the time! 😅📱
