I am an organized person by nature, and this mostly comes from my upbringing. When you are young, and you hear your mother yelling at you to tidy your room, this yelling that used to annoy you, eventually turned out to be what made me an organized person. My life has become better, and when I deal with some people and see the chaos in their lives, I thank God for this feature that made my life easier. But I tell you, my disorganized friend, there is hope. You can start today and organize your photo library, as it will be easy for you at any time to retrieve any memory or find any person or even an important photo of a paper or card. Let's get started with tips for organizing the photo folder on iPhone.

From iPhoneIslam.com, A person arranges framed photos on a wall in a warmly lit living room, featuring a lamp, plants, a wooden side table and decorative pillows. It reflects the art of organizing your iPhone photos - bringing order and beauty to your space.

Tag a person or pet in a photo or video

One of the most important tips for organizing your photo folder is to name the people in the photos. This simple task makes finding photos much easier. All you have to do is browse through the photos one by one (browse them after clicking on a photo to reveal the details), and when you see a thumbnail with a question mark, know that this person has not been recognized, and you should put his name.

From iPhoneIslam.com, A blurry, grainy image of a person lying on a bed, his face partially covered. The image shows the camera settings and the date: January 9, 2025, 6:04 p.m. The image was taken on an iPhone, and captures the spontaneous beauty in chaos.

All you have to do now is click on this thumbnail and then name this person, preferably linking it to his contact.

This task may take some time, but it is okay to divide the task over several days, and in the meantime do not forget to delete duplicate photos.

Delete duplicate photos

In the Photos app, in the Tools section, Apple has a tool to delete duplicate photos.

From iPhoneIslam.com, two smartphones show the photo management screens on an iPhone. The left side shows the Photos app menu with “Duplicates” highlighted, a useful tip for organizing your photo folder efficiently. The right side shows a duplicate photo screen with the “Merge” option selected in a circle.

We did not mean to use this tool to delete duplicate images, because it only shows you duplicate images if they are identical, and you usually find this option with you because it only appears when there are duplicate images.

We mean that you delete the photos that are too similar. What does it mean to put photos of the same person in the same place with no difference except for a slight movement? These duplicate photos do nothing to remind you of that situation or occasion (especially women, they know what I mean).

So as you review the photos and put names, delete the duplicate photos yourself which will not give you any additional memory.

Put notes on images, especially document images.

Many of us put pictures of cards, such as a club entry card. Of course, it is dangerous to put important papers such as bank cards in the pictures, because any application that has access to the pictures can view them. Therefore, one of the most important tips for organizing pictures is to put a note about what this paper card is. In these notes, it is preferable to put words that can be used when searching for the picture.

To add a caption to a photo, click on it to show the photo information. Directly below the photo you will find a place to add a title to the photo (Add a Caption), for example, under the club membership card I put the words (Tarek Club ID) and all my children's cards are the same. So, if you want to quickly access any card, type the word (Club) in the image search and all the club cards will appear.

Arrange photos in an album

The album in the Photos app is a place to collect your photos. The concept of an album in the Photos app is different from the concept of a folder that you know when dealing with computer files. The album in the Photos app does not transfer photos to it, and if you delete a photo from the album, it does not delete it from your photo library, even if you delete the entire album, your photos remain as they are. Consider the album in the Photos app as a category, not a folder in the sense of system files. But the album feature in the Photos app is very important for organization, and it will be useful to you if you understand how to use albums correctly.

You can make an album for all your work photos, you can make an album for all your phone wallpapers, you can make an album for a specific occasion, you can make an album for memes, but don't make an album for a specific person, or for a type of photo like screenshots. The album in the Photos app is where you go to easily browse a collection of photos.

In the iOS 18 update, Apple allows you to create a photo album or a folder containing several albums, and this feature is more than I want, in fact I have not found a practical use for it. The concept of the folder is the same as the concept of the album, the photos in the folder are not deleted if you delete the folder, it is just a place where you collect several albums.

When you browse albums, you may think that the applications have created their own album. For example, you find an album for the WhatsApp application that contains the photos you downloaded from this application. This is common among applications. Remember, even if you delete this album, the photos will remain in your photo library.

Shared photo albums

What is called Shared Album is Apple's gift to iPhone users. It is called Apple's gift because this type of album keeps your photos even if you delete them from the photo library. Apple keeps them for you on the cloud for free (up to 5000 photos and videos with a maximum sharing size of 1 GB). This is very good. Personally, my wife and I share an album for the children's photos and I delete the photos from my photo library, thus saving space. We also use shared albums for food photos, etc.

From iPhoneIslam.com, a man with curly hair and a beard adjusts his sunglasses, just like sorting photos on an iPhone. Below are various photos and illustrations of the same man, ranging from comical to artistic styles.

You can also create shared photo albums without sharing with anyone, and I use this trick to save my AI-generated photos, so they don't need to be in the main photo library.

From iPhoneIslam.com, a screenshot of a menu with options: Copy Image, Add to Shared Album (Featured), Add to Album, AirPlay, Use as Wallpaper, and Export Unedited Original. Perfect for easily organizing your iPhone photos.

To create a shared photo album or add photos to it, it's easy, just select the photos and press the share button, then choose add to shared photo album.

From iPhoneIslam.com, a screenshot of the “Shared Album” menu on a device, showing an organized view for iPhone users. Two albums are listed: “Al” with a check mark and “Food”, making it easy to organize your photos on iPhone efficiently.

You can create a new album, or add to an album you've already created.
