iOS 18 focuses heavily on Apple’s AI. The next version of the operating system will undoubtedly see more improvements and push new AI-powered features. Apple is expected to unveil iOS 19 During its annual developer conference scheduled to be held in June 2025. As the launch date of the new operating system approaches, many leaks and rumors have emerged that revealed to us a number of new features that we will review in the following lines. Here are the most important upcoming features in iOS 19 for iPhone devices.
Redesigned camera app
There has been some talk about Apple’s intention to redesign the camera app on iPhones with iOS 19. This was confirmed by Jon Prosser on his YouTube channel, where he posted a video showing what the new camera app will look like. The main change is the transparent menus for the camera controls. Apparently, the design of these menus is very similar to those found in the visionOS mixed reality operating system.
But that's not all, the leaks also indicate that the camera area that will appear on the iPhone screen when using the app in iOS 19 will be larger compared to iOS 18. The camera controls will also be divided into two categories, namely photos and videos, and will be at the bottom of the app.
The camera controls also include options for spatial video recording and timed image playback. Additional controls for video resolution and frame rate also appear at the top of the screen as needed.
Siri is more like ChatGPT
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman explained that iOS 19 will bring several improvements to Siri that will make it more similar to ChatGPT. He expects Apple’s voice assistant to offer more human-like conversations along with handling complex requests and commands without any problem.
Gurman also explained that Apple intends to unveil the new Siri during the launch of iOS 19. However, the new version of Siri will not be available until early 2026, so the improved Siri will appear as part of iOS 19.4 in March or April of next year.
Currently, iOS 18.2 has added ChatGPT integration to Siri, and Google Gemini integration will follow in a later update. With iOS 18.4 or iOS 18.5, Siri will gain new features such as knowing what’s on the screen, understanding personal context, and better controlling apps.
iPhones compatible with iOS 19
According to several sources, iOS 19 will be compatible with any iPhone capable of running iOS 18, and as for the iPhones compatible with iOS 19, they include the following:
- IPhone 16 series
- IPhone 15 series
- iPhone 14 assortment
- iPhone 13 assortment
- IPhone 12 series
- IPhone 11 series
- iPhone XR, XSR, XS MAX
- iPhone SE 1st and 2nd generation
NBSome new iOS 19 features won't be available on older iPhone models.
Finally, Apple is scheduled to launch the first beta version of iOS 19 on iPhone devices during its annual WWDC 2025 developers conference, and the rest of the other updates will appear during September of this year.
