Constant notifications can distract you while working or studying, or perhaps you want to take some time to relax away from work messages. This is where Focus comes in, designed to help you control what you see and hear on your device based on the task at hand. Whether you want to focus on work or spend time with family, you can customize a Focus mode to suit every moment in your life. Let's get started with tips to make your experience with this feature more effective.

Easily manage focus modes

From iPhoneIslam.com, the smartphone screen displays Focus settings with options such as Do Not Disturb, Park, Personal, and Sleep to help minimize interruptions. Cross-device sharing is enabled for seamless syncing across Apple devices, providing personalized Focus settings for a more efficient experience.

To use Focus modes, go to Settings on your iPhone, then select the Focus section. You'll find default options like Do Not Disturb or Sleep, but you can also create a custom mode by tapping the + button in the top corner. When creating a new mode, you can choose a name, an icon, and your preferred settings.

Explore each option in the settings carefully. For example, if you're working on an important project, you can set a mode that only allows notifications from work apps like email or professional communication apps.

Mute or allow notifications from specific people

From iPhoneIslam.com, two smartphone screens show the Study Focus settings menu, with options to mute notifications for specific apps, highlighting toggles and app selections. Discover how Apple devices enhance productivity with Study Focus options tailored to a seamless study experience.

While at work, you might want to mute personal messages from friends, while at home, you might prefer to ignore work messages. Focus lets you choose to mute notifications from specific people or allow them only for those you want.

◉ Choose “Mute notifications from” to select a list of people you don’t want to hear from.

◉ Or choose “Allow notifications from” to specify who can reach you only.

For example, if you're at work, you can only allow calls from your manager or close family members, while muting everyone else. Messages aren't deleted; they're stored separately on your lock screen without disturbing you.

Choose apps carefully

From iPhoneIslam.com, two smartphone screens show the Study Focus settings menu, with options to mute notifications for specific apps, highlighting toggles and app selections. Discover how Apple devices enhance productivity with Study Focus options tailored to a seamless study experience.

Just like customizing people, you can control app notifications. For example, if you want to hear alerts from the email app only while working, select "Allow notifications from" and select the necessary apps.

If you're at home and want to reduce the distraction of apps like Slack or work email, use the "Mute notifications from" option for these apps only, while allowing others, such as entertainment or social media apps.

Use “Minimize Interruptions” mode

From iPhoneIslam.com, two smartphone screens show the "Reduce Interruptions" and Focus Mode notification settings on Apple devices, highlighting customization options for managing app alerts and human notifications. Features include improved Focus Mode for a seamless experience.

If you have a device that supports Apple Intelligence features, you can enable Minimize Interruptions mode. This mode uses artificial intelligence to identify only important notifications, such as an urgent call, while muting the rest.

You can manually add exceptions, such as allowing notifications from a specific app or important person, making it a middle ground between enabling all notifications and Do Not Disturb mode.

Customize your home screen

From iPhoneIslam.com, the smartphone screen displays a list of allowed apps and features, such as email, Safari, and FaceTime, all marked with green toggle icons. This setting aligns perfectly with Apple device settings, ensuring a smooth and focused user experience.

You can associate Focus Mode with a specific Home screen that contains only the apps you need. For example, create a page containing only work apps, then associate it with Work Mode. When Focus Mode is enabled, other apps, such as games or social media, will disappear.

Note

You can still access other apps via the App Library, but this customization significantly reduces distractions.

Add focus filters

From iPhoneIslam.com, the smartphone's two screens display Focus settings. The left displays app and system filters in a simple layout, while the right offers personalized options with Focus apps and appearance settings. ◉ In the Mail app, you can hide your personal inbox while you're working.

◉ In the calendar, display only work-related appointments.

You can also link the mode to system settings like Dark Mode or Power Saving for a smoother experience.

The problem I have with focus mode is choosing the location, because it does not accept entering an address from Google Maps, and it does not open a map for you to choose, and you have to choose from Apple Maps, and many of the mosque locations are not available

Hi Hamed Ali 🙋‍♂️, I apologize for the confusion. Indeed, the Focus feature in iOS requires using Apple Maps to determine the location. However, there is a little trick you can use: Add the mosque as a location in your contacts via Apple Maps, and then you can select it as a location in the Focus settings. I understand that this may take additional time, so I will send a suggestion to Apple to add Google Maps support in the future. Thanks for asking! 🍏🌍💡

Choose the nearest mosque with an address on Apple Maps. It really made me feel comfortable when I was at the mosque, as it opened and closed automatically.

Focus mode allows you to write a specific phone number and display it on the lock screen at the bottom of the screen, in the middle between the camera and flash icons. I personally did this with two iPhones. This move is very useful in case the iPhone is lost and whoever finds it can call the number shown on the lock screen without having to unlock it and enter to search for the owner’s information. Unfortunately, there is no option to upload photos here in the comments for Phonogram or iPhone Islam members to see.
