Will Apple release the iPhone 17e in 2025?

Apple had launched iPhone 16e Launched in February, the iPhone SE replaces the budget iPhone series. The new model represents a qualitative leap forward in the company's phone lineup. The iPhone 16e offers fast performance thanks to the A18 chip, along with a powerful battery and support for Apple Intelligence And many new and exciting features, all for a starting price of $599. The question that comes to mind now is whether Apple plans to unveil a new e model this year, or will it stick with just the iPhone 17 series? This is what we will discover in the following lines, based on the latest rumors and leaks.

IPhone 17 series

From iPhoneIslam.com, an image shows the iPhone 17 lineup, featuring the sleek iPhone 17 Pro alongside the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, and iPhone 17 Pro Max models, against a stunning gradient background.

Apple is set to unveil the iPhone 17 series, which will consist of four models:

  • IPhone 17
  • iPhone 17 Air (will replace the Plus)
  • IPhone 17 Pro
  • IPhone 17 Pro Max

The iPhone 17 Air is rumored to feature an ultra-thin design with an aluminum body and a 6.6-inch display, aiming to balance lightness with powerful performance. The Air model demonstrates Apple's new strategy of offering a mid-range phone within the core lineup, which could prompt the company to consider abandoning the budget iPhone 17e.

Apple is also likely to market the new ultra-thin iPhone 899 Air, which will replace the iPhone Plus, as a premium option, even though it will have a single camera and lack many other features. However, the company intends to price it at least $16. This is the current price of the iPhone 899 Plus. At $17, the iPhone 17 Air will be more expensive than the basic iPhone XNUMX, but less expensive than the Pro model. Therefore, Apple won't be able to launch two cheap models at once while announcing the new series. It will instead focus on the new ultra-thin model during the event.

iPhone 17e

The most likely scenario is that Apple will launch the iPhone 17e next year, 2026, specifically during the same February period (February 19 is the iPhone 16e launch date). This way, the company will be able to use the launch as a way to refresh its main lineup mid-production cycle, rather than introducing new colors for its smartphones in the spring.

Also, numerous rumors and leaks have indicated that Apple is already approaching the trial production stage of the budget iPhone. Renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also indicated that the company intends to launch the iPhone 17e during the first half of next year, and that the plan will not stop there. A new model will be released every year.

Conclusion

Ultimately, the success of the iPhone 16e and the desirability of purchasing it will determine whether there will be new e-series releases. If sales figures are strong and user reviews are positive, Apple will likely release a new model. Most data indicates that Apple's budget e-series phone accounted for 7% of US iPhone sales in the first quarter of its availability. Therefore, we're looking forward to the iPhone 17e launch next February.

If the iPhone 17e comes with some of the missing features like UWB and MagSafe, it will be one of the best budget iPhones (although it is no longer as budget as the iPhone SE).
