Apple is testing an advanced version of Siri via a ChatGPT-like app.

For years, Siri has been viewed as a traditional voice assistant with limited capabilities compared to its competitors, but it appears that Apple is planning a paradigm shift. Reports have revealed that the company is conducting internal tests on a new and improved version of Siri, based on an application similar to a large language model like ChatGPT. This gives Crab Advanced capabilities we've never seen before. This will ultimately transform Siri from a simple assistant to a smart tool capable of interacting and creating, similar to ChatGPT and other chatbots.

An application similar to “GBT Chat”

According to a Bloomberg report, Apple has designed a beta app based on a large language model (LLM) to help its engineers test an improved version of Siri. However, this app will not be available to the public, as it is limited to internal testing only. New features Apple is working on will be evaluated, such as enhanced contextual awareness, expanded Siri capabilities within and across apps, and deeper integration with users' personal data.

The report indicates that the new Apple app appears similar to other chatbot apps such as ChatGPTIt organizes multiple conversations on various topics. The app can remember and refer to previous conversations and supports long conversations.

A new version of Siri

Apple has been working on a smarter version of Siri since the launch of iOS 18. The company initially planned to release a version of Siri powered by Apple Intelligence as part of the update, but was forced to postpone the feature until 2026 due to its failure to meet Apple's quality standards.

After that, it abandoned the plan to use Apple Intelligence-powered Siri and decided to completely rebuild the voice assistant using a second-generation architecture to accelerate its transition to large language models. Therefore, the next version of Siri will rely on advanced technologies similar to those used in ChatGPT, Cloud, Google Gemini, and other AI-powered chatbots. This move will likely enable Siri to conduct continuous conversations, provide human-like answers to questions, and even perform more complex tasks without any problems.

Finally, Apple is expected to launch a version of Siri powered by large language models (LLMs) in early 2026, likely as part of the iOS 26.4 update, scheduled for release in March. This will bring the new version of the personal assistant a full year later than Apple had originally planned. At the end of next year, Apple plans to unveil a new design for Siri, giving it a more human appearance that could resemble the Finder logo on Mac computers. Furthermore, Apple has been in talks with Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google, and may opt to use one of these companies to power the new version of Siri instead of relying solely on its own AI models.

There are some notes on the update that appeared for me -iPhone 11-:
    • When making a call and using the speaker, a hang occurs and the other party cannot hear you until you turn the speaker off and on again.
    • In writing the Arabic language, especially when writing the letter Alif, the hamzas do not appear correctly.
