The iPhone 17 series gets an innovative anti-spyware security feature.

Apple is always keen to protect its users from all threats. However, the problem has always been related to advanced spyware, such as بيجاسوس which exploit memory vulnerabilities to threaten the security of the company's phones. But according to Apple, all of this will change in the next series. IPhone 17 Thanks to a new and innovative security feature that provides comprehensive and permanent protection for memory integrity. This protection extends beyond user applications to the system kernel itself, as well as to more than 70 core processes. Now, we'll take you on a quick tour of Apple's new MIE feature and how it protects the iPhone from advanced hacking and spying attacks.

From iPhone Islam website: The white Apple logo with a white lock on a dark green to black gradient background symbolizes a security or privacy feature of the iPhone 17.

What is the advantage of MIE?

From Phone Islam: A modern iPhone 17 smartphone with an abstract pink, white, and purple design and flowers on the screen, displayed flat against a pink and purple gradient background, features advanced security features against spyware calls.

According to Apple, most sophisticated cyberattacks, particularly professional spyware, target vulnerabilities related to device memory. Simply put, attackers exploit bugs in how software manages memory, allowing them to execute malicious code, steal sensitive data, or even take complete control of the device.

This is where MIE (Memory Integrity Enforcement) comes in. It's the product of five years of research and development within Apple to provide continuous and effective memory protection against the most dangerous cyberattacks, without impacting iPhone performance. That's why the company describes it as "the most significant update ever to memory security for mobile operating systems."

How does memory integrity enforcement work?

From Phone Islam: A close-up of the Apple A19 Pro chip on a transparent circuit board, with the Apple logo and "A19 PRO" text visible - highlighting 19 advanced anti-spyware security features.

The new security feature works by assigning a unique tag to each piece of memory. When a program attempts to access that piece of memory, its tag is checked to ensure it is authorized. If the tags do not match, this indicates an unauthorized attempt to tamper with the memory. The system then immediately stops the process.

Furthermore, MIE supports the A19 and A19 Pro processors. This means it will be available on the iPhone 17 lineup, as well as the iPhone Air. Apple also explained that it has also developed additional security features for memory integrity in older models that do not support the new memory encryption feature. Apple has also made the new feature available to all developers for use to enhance app security on the iPhone operating system.

Finally, in addition to spyware like Pegasus, Apple's new feature also provides protection against Spectre V1 (a type of attack that exploits vulnerabilities in the internal architecture of modern processors). The company says that such threats do not affect iPhone performance, which would make developing spyware more expensive and difficult. Memory integrity enforcement will also disable many security breaches used over the past 25 years.

As long as humans exist, hacks exist.
Programming will not stop until the Day of Judgment.
Not to mention the companies that manufacture these software and sell antiviruses to the same customer.

Is it possible to use it on the iPhone 16 Pro Max or later, and if so, how can that be done, or is it exclusive to the iPhone 17 and later?

A marketing trick for new devices because as long as the device is connected to the Internet it will not be protected from hacking attempts.
