Apple has announced a new update for iPhone, iPad, and all other devices. Version 26.1 is different from the previous version, 26.0.1. An update consisting of a single number and a dot, like today's 26.1 update, is a major update that usually brings new features. Updates consisting of two dots, like the previous 26.0.1 update, are usually minor updates that only fix bugs. So be sure to update your device as soon as possible.
One of the most important additions in iOS 26.1 is the ability to control the appearance of menus and buttons with the "Liquid Glass Transparency" feature. If you've noticed that some parts of the iPhone system have become transparent, sometimes making writing difficult to read, you can now easily change this effect in Settings. There are two options: the current transparent appearance or a clearer appearance, which helps you see more clearly. Another important feature is the ability to disable the swipe gesture that opens the Camera app from the Lock Screen. This is useful if you're worried someone might accidentally open the camera while your device is locked. To enable or disable this feature: Go to Settings > Camera > "Swipe to open Camera from Lock Screen." There's also more, and most importantly, bug fixes from the previous system.
There are updates for all Apple systems and updates for iOS 18 as well.
