iPhone 18 Pro colors: Goodbye cosmic orange, hello cherry luxury

Rumors about Apple's upcoming devices never seem to die down. While we eagerly await what the coming days will bring, leaks have begun to surface again regarding the color options for the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro. According to the latest information from the supply chain, Apple appears to have decided to prematurely retire the recently buzzed "Cosmic Orange" color, replacing it with a luxurious and profound shade: Dark Cherry. This move reflects Apple's ongoing desire to refresh its visual identity with each new Pro generation, as if telling us that true luxury is only complete with a touch of mystery.

Cherry red steals the show in the iPhone 18 Pro

Although we are still months away from the launch of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, leaks are notoriously unreliable. According to a new report, Apple will release four main colors for this lineup: dark cherry red, light blue, space gray, and silver. The color that will be the star of the show this year is dark cherry red, giving it a more sophisticated and luxurious look compared to the bright orange.

From PhoneIslam: Four smartphones, displayed side-by-side in black, silver, purple and blue, showcase the latest iPhone 18 Pro devices, each equipped with two rear cameras and an LED flash.

While dark cherry may not appear as bright or eye-catching as cosmic orange in person, it will undoubtedly set iPhone 18 Pro users apart from previous generations. Apple has a knack for choosing colors that make us reconsider our personal tastes, and based on leaked Pantone codes, the colors will be: dark cherry (Pantone 6076), light blue (Pantone 2121), dark gray (Pantone 426C), and silver (Pantone 427C).

iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Ultra foldable design

The changes aren't limited to colors; they extend to design features as well. Leaked schematics suggest that the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max will retain the familiar overall look, but with an interesting change to the Dynamic Island, which will become smaller, meaning more usable screen space when not actively engaged. It's the kind of improvement we appreciate—increasing efficiency without compromising functionality.

From PhoneIslam: A prototype foldable iPhone featuring a dual rear camera and the Apple logo is shown partially folded on a light wooden surface alongside two flat smartphones, suggesting a design inspired by the vibrant colors of the iPro 18.

As for the foldable iPhone Ultra, it seems Apple will take a more conservative approach to its colors. Reports indicate the company is working on a classic silver and white model, as well as an indigo option similar to the deep blue we saw on the iPhone 17 Pro. The foldable device is expected to have fewer color choices compared to the standard orange models. As always, this information should be treated as a rumor until Apple officially announces it in September 2026, but if the cherry red is indeed the case, we're in for a classic yet bold development.

Apple cleverly opted to change the color of its products every year, which proved economically beneficial. Instead of changing the external design every year or every design cycle, the change is achieved through a striking color that distinguishes the generations from each other solely by color.

Of course, without hesitation, I preferred dark cherry, and I was never a fan of orange.

It seems that cherry red will be a trend and other companies will follow suit, just as happened with orange.
