With the launch of the iPhone XS and XR, Apple announced the addition of a multi-SIM feature. Where two slices allowed. One is physical and the second is electronic (eSIM). The feature began to spread in many countries gradually until our Arab countries arrived, with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia the latest to join today. To join the Emirates, Jordan, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Lebanon, and the Sultanate of Oman. So what is an eSIM and how do you use it?
An electronic chip, or several?
It is simply an electronic chip. That is, you activate it and work via software built into the phone. You don't need to put a physical chip inside the device as usual. And since it is an additional chip, this means that you can use two numbers at the same time. Perhaps someone would be assigned to work. Or allocating one of them to buy an internet data package and the other for voice calls. Also, starting with iOS 13, Apple allows the use of the two numbers with FaceTime and iMessage.
Theoretically, you can register as many chips as possible on your phone. However, you can only use one of them in addition to the plastic strip. You can switch between the stored electronic chips through Settings -> Cellular or Cellular Data -> then tap on the desired line and choose to turn on this line.
How to get it up and running
The first method is by using a QR code. Where you go to a phone line sales center and then get a card containing the QR code of the number. Now you have to open the camera and then scan the code with it. You will see a notification that you press -> press continue at the bottom of the screen in the next window -> add a cellular plan. If you are prompted for an activation code, enter that provided by the company that provided the number.
The second method differs according to the companies, which is if the company has an application on the software store. And she allowed the purchase of an electronic chip through the application. Then you can buy the chip through the application and activate it without the need to visit one of the service branches.
Choose your default number
In the cellular data settings, you can also choose the default device number. It makes calls and messages that are forwarded to numbers that are not listed in your contacts.
You can also assign one of the numbers to use only internet data. So it is dedicated to the internet and the other number makes calls.
Choose a number for each contact
Do you want to call some to one number and others to a different number? You can do this by going to the desired contact, then clicking on it -> pressing on the preferred cellular plan -> then choosing the number that you want to use with it permanently.
Switch numbers when making a call
You can simply switch numbers when making a new call. By entering the number you want to call, then clicking on the line name at the top. To be able to switch to another number and place the call. It is also just as easy when sending text messages, you will find a box under the number to switch fonts.
using the Internet
Of course, one number can use the internet data. You will not pull data from two plans at the same time. To change the line that saves internet data, go to Settings -> Cellular -> Cellular Data. Then choose the number you want.
Also, there is an option at the bottom of the page which is "Allow switching of cellular data usage". This selects the internet service provider based on the strongest signal.
Do you want to transfer the font to a new device?
Before you were just moving the chip. So how do you transfer your eSIM? You just have to register it on the new phone in the same way. It will be removed from the old one.

If I have a chip and an electronic and a second traditional chip
Can WhatsApp be activated on the two numbers on the same mobile at the same time?
I have a 4-hour clock from America. Can I activate a stc SIM?
Can this SIM be used to roam outside the Kingdom in Egypt, for example (a country where the SIM card did not work) ?!

I have the Chinese phone XNUMX Pro Max that has two SIM cards .. Is there an electronic chip, please? ??
No. The Chinese version was issued with two actual chips, especially because China did not accept the activation of the electronic chip system. There is no system in it.
Peace be upon you. We in Iraq are still working with 3G until now. I expect that we will transfer 4g and an electronic chip, starting from the next decade (This is our solution)
Your brother from Yemen is the same way, and our Lord will fix the situation
Unfortunately, a year ago, Zain wrote to Anthony in Iraq, the answer is that soon, this service will be activated, and so far there is nothing.
Is it possible to add the activated number on the iPhone to the Apple Watch (the same number for the iPhone and the watch) ??
نعم
Can you work soon in Egypt?
What is the difference between two regular sim cards like the iPhone, the Chinese version, and when the regular sim and esm are like the iPhone we have? Which is better?
Exactly the same
Will it support Apple Watch?
Basically, the introduction of the electronic chip was in the Apple Watch and then moved to the iPhone in the XS version
When is Yemen! 💔🌚
In the time of the one-eyed antichrist
Thanks for the explanation
Is there any news about the operation of the service in Egypt ... especially that Etisalat is one of the Gulf companies that have operated in the Emirates and Kuwait?
As for Egypt, unfortunately, thinking always lags behind other countries, especially in implementing technology fields.
Congratulations to them
We hope that the service will reach Egypt soon ,,, so how has such a service not yet reached Egypt !!!!!!!!
Egypt is the pioneer of everything in the Middle East !!!!
The truth is enough to respond with a slight smile.
Do not live an illusion by increasing 🤣
At the present time, unfortunately, if you would like to transfer your primary number to an electronic chip, there is no .. Only a (new) electronic chip purchase is available
Is it possible to add the Vodafone Egypt number to the electronic chip while I am in Saudi Arabia and the main line of Zain
No. The company must support the service. And Vodafone Egypt has not yet supported it. You can put the Vodafone Egypt number on the physical chip and ask Zain about the possibility of converting your number into an electronic chip.
Do you receive calls?
For the two numbers ?????
Meaning that anyone can call on the two numbers without me specifying which of them is the default ???????
Yeah.
Unfortunately, every development that brings us is late, God willing, with the narrator, we will be better
Is it compatible with iPhone 7?
Not compatible with iPhone XNUMX
Only xs, xs max, xr and above
Thank you very much all iPhone Team
Is it possible to transfer the old chip to an e-sim with the same number ?!
Yes, this is possible
Question to the author of the article
Is it possible to combine three numbers from several companies? For example: a number from Etisalat, a number from Mobily and a number from Zain
Greetings
Merge is possible Yes. But remember, you can only use two of them at a time.
Frankly, I do not see a need
STC is the most greedy telecom company on earth, and when the other companies finish providing the service they offer you the service
Thank you
This is an electronic comfort feature a nice feature as well as an electronic chip that supports 10 electronic chips, God willing, I mean, you can put 10 electronic lines.
To clarify, STC stated that if the customer wants to change the mobile device to a new device, the code that was activated on the old phone cannot be used, but rather he must issue a new code for each device
Thanks for your informative articles
thank you
Hello, our telecom companies are naturally greedy, and they put fees on the slides, may God help
How do I update the organizers, I have activated the service from calls per hour, and the phone has been around for two years, and the service has been around since the time of the Apple Watch, the second version, which means from 3 years or more !! And on the iPhone X, the service is available at Etisalat UAE ,,
Is the price of the eSim service the same as the regular Sim… ?!
Yes exactly
I am very sure that the plastic chips will be from the past in the coming years, and the electronic chips are wonderful and easy to use, but the problem that I want to understand is what if the device’s battery was empty and wanted to make a necessary call on another device. Now just take out the chip and put it in the other. How will the situation be with the electronic?
To activate the chip on another mobile, a replacement chip must be requested from the service provider, meaning with each mobile as if you are asking for a new chip, or in other words, a replacement chip
Think formula titled wrong
And about us in Jordan, the line is present after the iPhone XS Max was downloaded shortly, and I have been with the line since then and I have two lines on it
Saudi Arabia is the latest to join. But it is written in the introduction that it was located in Jordan.
Finally, the Apple Watch works yet
????????
You have told us now how Saudi Arabia is one of the first Arab countries and at the end you say the news to join the Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, etc. Yes, as well as the last Arab country, except for Somalia and Yemen.
We mentioned that it is the latest joining, not the first.
